I have loved “Women’s Interest” (as we call them in “the biz” ha) magazines since I was a little girl. First it was American Girl. Then it matured to Seventeen. Then to Cosmo (much to my mother’s chagrin). And now everything from Vogue & Harper’s Bazaar to O, The Oprah Magazine and Real Simple (do those last two make me old and lame?)
My favorite, however, by far is Real Simple. Honestly, does it get any better? Practical advice, cute design and organizational tips, delicious (and quick!) recipes, inspirational stories, party plans, and pretty fashion and accessory spreads. In other words: Life. Made. Easier. Which is exactly how they tout the magazine. (Secret: I kind of wish I was an editor there!!)
My mother, girlfriends and I discuss articles, products and ideas that the magazine publishes all the time. (For instance- did you know that you could use an uncooked piece of spaghetti as a match if you don’t want your hand to be so close to the flame? Pasta? Flammable? Who knew!)
With so much content available online today, magazine subscriptions have taken a hit. But for my favorites, I always shell out the couple dollars to have those glossy pages on my lap on the airplane, in the doctor’s office or on my comfy living room couch. But, the Real Simple website is actually really good (compared to other magazine sites) and I highly recommend subscribing to their blogs through your RSS feeder– tips/articles/recipes/you name it! delivered to your fingertips throughout the day! Just another reason I adore Real Simple. It truly is simply wonderful.
