Celebrity beauty brands are everywhere these days but very few actually earn a permanent spot in my routine. I’m always skeptical when a new line launches particularly when one is backed by someone as famous as Hailey Bieber. We all know by now that good marketing doesn’t always equal good formulas. So when Rhode, Hailey Bieber’s skincare brand, launched, I decided to test it thoroughly before sharing any thoughts.
After a year of testing out the most popular SKUs, I’m ready to give you my honest review of Rhode skincare. What works, what surprised me and whether it’s actually worth your money.
Rhode Beauty Review
If you’re curious about minimalist skincare, glassy skin trends or you’re simply wondering if Rhode lives up to the hype, keep reading. It’s the latest in my series of Beauty Reviews.
What Is Rhode?
Rhode is Hailey Bieber’s skincare brand focused on barrier repair, hydration and what she calls “glazed donut skin.” The brand launched with a tight edit of products designed to layer together seamlessly and support the skin barrier rather than overwhelm it. It’s since grown to include a few color cosmetics in the line, too which I’ll cover in my review below.
The brand’s philosophy is all about effective formulas, essential steps only and products that work for all skin types with a focus on peptides. The brand avoids unnecessary fragrance and prioritizes dermatologist-tested formulas.
Rhode currently offers the following in its line:
- Peptide Glazing Fluid
- Barrier Restore Cream
- Peptide Lip Treatment
- Pineapple Refresh Cleanser (I have not yet tried this)
- Glazing Milk
- Barrier Butter
- Pocket Blush
- Lip Shape Liner
- Glazing Mist
- Depuffing Eye Patches
The packaging is minimal and chic and they do a good job of curating sets with sample sizes for you to be able to test out products before you commit to the full size.
My Skin Type & What I Look For in Skincare
Before diving into individual product reviews, here’s some context about my skin. I have combination skin that leans dry, especially in colder months. As I’ve gotten older, hydration and barrier repair have become priorities for me. I’m usually not acne-prone but I do experience sensitivity if I overdo actives and get monthly hormonal breakouts.
In skincare, I prioritize:
- Hydration
- Gentle formulas
- Products that layer well under makeup
- Long-term skin health over quick fixes
Therefore, Rhode’s focus on barrier repair immediately appealed to me. Let’s get into the products I’ve tested…
Peptide Glazing Fluid
This is arguably Rhode’s hero product and was the first product I was curious to try from the brand. It’s a lightweight serum-gel hybrid designed to boost hydration and give that signature glazed glow.
Texture:
Lightweight, slightly slippery and absorbs quickly.
How I use it:
I apply 1–2 pumps after cleansing and before moisturizer. I’ve found it layers beautifully under makeup and never pills.
Results:
This product truly delivers glow. My skin looks plumper and more hydrated immediately after application. Over time, I noticed improved texture and less dryness especially around my cheeks.
Pros:
- Gives instant glow
- Layers well under makeup
- Hydrating without feeling greasy
Cons:
-
If you have very oily skin, it may feel a bit dewy
Would I repurchase?
Definitely.
Barrier Restore Cream
This is Rhode’s moisturizer designed to strengthen the skin barrier and lock in moisture.
Texture:
Rich but not heavy. It melts into skin beautifully.
How it performs:
It’s nourishing without feeling greasy and works well both morning and night. Under makeup, it creates a smooth base.
Pros:
- Deeply moisturizing
- Works under makeup
- Suitable for sensitive skin
Cons:
-
If you’re extremely oily, it may feel too rich
Would I repurchase?
Probably not – I prefer the moisturizers I own by Caudalie.
Rhode Glazing Milk
My favorite product of the whole line. This milky essence is meant to prep skin and boost hydration before serums and creams.
Texture:
Watery-milky consistency that absorbs quickly. You only need a few drops!
How it performs:
Think of this as a hydration sandwich layer. It makes everything applied afterward absorb better. My skin feels softer and more balanced when I include this step and makeup goes on even better. I love mixing it on my hand with a favorite foundation.
Pros:
- Great prep step
- Adds hydration without weight
- Works for sensitive skin
- Beautiful when blended with foundation
Cons:
-
Bulky bottle so hard to take on the go when you’re traveling.
Would I repurchase?
Absolutely- this is a standout product and makes makeup look amazing. I’ve converted a lot of friends to it as well.
Peptide Lip Treatment
Rhode’s lip treatments are wildly popular for good reason. They’re thick, glossy and incredibly hydrating. They make lips look really luscious and you’ll become so addicted you may even want the phone case the brand sells to make sure you always have your Lip Peptide on hand. (Although it’s not my personal vibe).
Shades:
Available in clear and tinted versions like Ribbon, Toast and Espresso. They also now have scented versions as well. They also do limited edition drops at times.
How it performs:
This is one of the best lip treatments I’ve tried. I like how nourishing it feels and really like how it makes the lips look.
Pros:
- Super nourishing
- Beautiful shine
Cons:
-
Some people have reported issues with mold growing in the caps but the brand has now since rectified this. I never experienced it with any of the tubes I purchased.
Would I repurchase?
Yes. I already have multiple shades. The unscented and Toast shade being my most worn.
Rhode Barrier Butter
This is a newer launch designed as a richer occlusive moisturizer for nighttime.
Texture:
Thick, balm-like cream.
How it performs:
This would be perfect for dry winter nights or post-treatment skin.
Pros:
- Great for barrier repair
- Great for slugging
- Locks in moisture
Cons:
-
Too heavy for daytime use
Would I repurchase?
No, I think it made me break out so I have discontinued use of it.
Rhode Pocket Blush
Rhode’s Pocket Blush was the brand’s first true step into makeup and these cream blush sticks fit into the “glazed skin” ethos as they were designed to melt into skin for a soft, dewy flush.
Texture & finish
The formula is creamy without being greasy. It glides on easily and blends beautifully with fingers, a dense brush or even a sponge. The finish is skin-like and luminous — not glittery, not sticky, just a healthy-looking glow.
Shades
Rhode offers multiple shades ranging from soft pinks to warm corals and deeper berry tones for a variety of skin tones.
How I use it
I typically swipe directly onto my cheeks and blend upward with my favorite blush brush from Merit.
Longevity
For a cream blush, the wear is ok but not stellar. If you set lightly with powder blush on top I find you get longer wear.
Pros
- Creamy, easy to blend
- Buildable pigmentation
Cons
- Limited shade range compared to full makeup brands
- The tube is bulky and not great for travel despite being lightweight
Would I repurchase?
Nah – both shades I’ve tried I haven’t been obsessed with. I’ll stick with my holy grail blushes.
Rhode Peptide Lip Shape
The Peptide Lip Shape is Rhode’s creamy lip liner designed to pair with their cult-favorite Peptide Lip Treatments. Think soft definition rather than harsh outlining.
Texture
It’s incredibly creamy — almost like a lipstick in pencil form. It glides on smoothly without tugging which is a must for me.
Finish & wear
I find the finish quite matte and I don’t think the color payout or wear is that great.
Shade range
A limited shade range designed to compliment their Lip Peptide colors.
Pros
- Comfortable to wear
- Pairs well with Rhode lip treatments
- Doesn’t feather
Cons
- Not long-wear if you want an all-day liner
- Not the easiest to apply IMO
Would I repurchase?
Nah. I much prefer the lip liners by Victoria Beckham Beauty and Mary Philips.
Rhode Glazing Mist
This is skippable in my opinion. It doesn’t land on the face in a way that feels effective or necessary.
What it is
A hydrating mist that aims to refresh skin, boost glow and support a more balanced feel over time. Rhode positions it as a true “anytime” product: part skincare step, part on-the-go reset.
Pros
- Easy to use in multiple ways (skincare step + makeup prep + refresh)
- Noticeably boosts hydration and glow quickly
Cons
- The glow factor can read “very dewy,” especially if you’re oilier
- It’s pricier than a basic hydrating mist
- The bottle is bulky and therefore not effective for on-the-go refreshes
Would I repurchase?
No, I think there are better setting sprays and facial mists on the market.
Is Rhode Worth It?
In my opinion, yes there are some real gems in the line. Rhode is a well-edited line that focuses on skin barrier health and hydration. While it’s not a medical-grade brand, it delivers on its promises and fits seamlessly into an everyday routine.
If you love:
- Minimal skincare
- Hydrated glowy skin
- Gentle formulas
- Affordable products that feel luxe
You’ll likely enjoy Rhode.
Final Thoughts on Rhode Skincare
Rhode exceeded my expectations. It’s thoughtfully formulated and the price point is really good for the formulas. No wonder in just a few short years they already have gained such popularity and won a variety of awards for certain SKUs.
The Peptide Glazing Fluid and Glazing Milk are the clear standouts for me and the lip peptide treatments are truly elite.
While not every product is groundbreaking, the line as a whole feels cohesive and purposeful. Next on my list to try are the new-ish Peptide Eye Prep Depuffing Eye Patches.
You can buy Rhode Beauty at Rhodeskin.com and the line is also carried at Sephora. I personally prefer shopping the brand’s site though because they have more curated sets that allow for product discovery and testing.
If you’re curious to try out some of the line’s heroes, I’d recommend purchasing the Rhode Travel Set.

I’ll definitely continue to try new products from the line as they drop. Do you have any favorites from Rhode that you’ve tried?
