In the spirit of yesterday’s budget buys, today I’m sharing a look with this dress that was an impulse purchase with my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale haul!

While a lot of Topshop’s offering at Nordstrom is too young for me to wear, every now and then I find some great gems. At $70 this dress was easily added to my cart. It actually has some pretty dot detail you can’t see at first glance on the product page but it’s so easy to throw on this ruffled number on hot days. I wore it to drinks last week with girlfriends and when I walked out of my house a girl walking on the sidewalk stopped and said “That is just the prettiest dress!” Naturally, she made my day. We should all give (and accept!) compliments more often shouldn’t we!?

This weekend we had glorious weather and I spent a large part of it over in DUMBO. I’ve been getting out of my apartment during the day for a change of scenery and this nearby neighborhood is a beautiful 15 minute walk from my place.

I can’t believe it’s August today! Where has this summer gone? I feel like we’ll blink and it’ll be over. Particularly because I have several trips coming up this month & in September so I’ll be busy airplane hopping but frankly I’m excited to escape the heat a bit! I’m much more of a Fall person than a Spring person truth be told.
