A Weekend of Self Care

This past weekend I was supposed to go to Delaware but when the plans weren’t yet finalized by Friday and the train ticket prices suddenly very steep, I made the decision to not go. It resulted in a weekend of self care that I think I really needed.

I’m a big believer in taking time out for yourself when it feels necessary but sometimes that is easier said than done. I’ve been on the go much of this summer so a weekend with absolutely zero plans felt like the biggest luxury.

I’m naturally an early riser but on Saturday as the rain poured outside, I slid on my eye mask, popped in ear plugs and dozed back to sleep and stayed in bed till 10AM. It was bliss! Upon rising, I made some banana bread and coffee and watched TV staying in my pjs most of the afternoon. (I only changed out of them to do my last BBG workout of the week!) Sunday started without an alarm clock as well, then a long walk, some work, a hot pilates class and it ended with making dinner and using multiple face masks (I used this one and this one.) I wore no makeup and only wore workout clothes and PJs. Absolute heaven.

Here’s a list of all my favorite ways to self care:

  • Get a massage.
  • Use a face mask.
  • Take a bath.
  • Call a friend.
  • Cook a favorite meal.
  • Listen to a favorite podcast.
  • Read a book in bed.
  • Bake.
  • Watch a movie with a good glass of wine.
  • Workout.
  • Watch a favorite TV show.
  • Meditate.
  • Take a nap.
  • Go on a walk.

As you can tell, I managed to do so many of the above this weekend! I finished out Sunday feeling refreshed and recharged.

How do you guys practice self care? I’d love to hear from you!

Dress (wearing a size 8; love this similar plaid style by the same brand) // Jacket (only $68) // Sneakers (less expensive version here) // Bag (more affordable version here)

p.s. how to fix a bad day and my ultimate self care Sunday.

  1. Love this list (and also try to carve out time to indulge in all of these things). Although it’s no fun at the time, I also swear by tackling something on your ‘to do’ list that’s been nagging away at you for a while before rewarding yourself with one of the fun things above. I always feel so much better afterwards!

Ooo yes this is such a good one! I often to that, too because I am a bit crazy about “checking” things off on my To Do List app. Thanks for sharing, B!
