The silk skirt has been back on the circuit for at least a year and in that year I have bought + returned so many from a variety of designers. It wasn’t till I bought J.Crew’s affordable, pull-on version that I found a real winner and finally figured out what was wrong with a lot of the others I had tried.
Silk Skirt Styled 2 Ways
The key is the pull on version that J.Crew came out with. The Club Monaco silk skirt looked awful on me because of the zipper (it made my hips look huge!) The zipper essentially pulls the silk and adds weight in ways I personally couldn’t handle. The J.Crew version, however, is silky, drape-y goodness. And today I’m sharing how you can style it two ways for now and a bit later in the Fall.
For late summer I love the skirt paired with a classic t-shirt (this one is the best! A friend and I both showed up in it to brunch on Sunday and she said she bought it seeing it on my blog and agreed it is the best tee!) and a summer essential the denim jacket.
As the Fall weather starts though, I can’t wait to style this skirt with slouchy sweaters (good options here, here, here) and sneakers like I did here but also plan to wear it with an ivory or gray cashmere sweater like this one or this one and a pair of heeled booties. This sweater would also look so good with it tucked in!
Which look is your favorite?
. . .
J.Crew Skirt (I sized down to a small; comes in 3 colors) // Cuyana T-shirt (M) // Levi’s Denim Jacket // Loeffler Randall slides // Staud Bag // H&M Sweater (similar here, here) // Golden Goose sneakers (last seen here) // Saint Laurent Bag // Ray Ban Sunglasses
p.s. early Fall picks I love and things I’ve bought recently and love.
So cute! Love the sunnies. The belly area is my problem area so I just know this look would be unforgiving for me.
Sunnies are now linked! New Ray Bans that I love!
I might have to try this one! Anything I have tried on pulls at my hips weirdly, but that might be the zipper like you said.
Hope you get it and love it!!
love the skirt — and you’re right, it’s the perfect transition piece, so thanks for styling it two ways, for late summer and fall! i have a similar fall transition skirt in eggplant that I’m looking forward to pulling out for the season, and i appreciate the styling inspo!
So glad you found the styling inspirational!
