How to Style a Duster Cardigan

Styling a Duster I wit & whimsy

I’m a big fan of a cozy coatigan but until I picked up this duster cardigan I didn’t own a sweater of this length. I actually brought it to Paris in October and wore it with flat boots and sadly that had the sweater looking more bathrobe than duster so for the next time I donned it, I re-jiggered the look.

A duster cardigan is a long cardigan that acts somewhat as a coat, somewhat as an outfit topper.

Style with a heel.

When wearing a sweater of this length, having some heel height on your shoes is essential I learned. It’ll ensure your legs look longer and the sweater doesn’t become over-powering on your frame. For this outfit I cuffed my jeans and paired them with booties with a serious heel to make me look taller and give the allusion of height.

Keep the rest of the silhouette streamlined.

Be sure to not add more volume when wearing a duster cardigan. Keep your look streamlined with either skinny jeans or leggings.

Accessorize.

Add a blanket scarf to up the cozy factor. And for an even more elongated look, add a pom pom hat.

Layer.

Level up or down the warmth factor by layering either with a great t-shirt or bodysuit or with a thinner sweater ideal for layering.
