Where are you from? Grew up outside of Chicago, Illinois and been in New York City for nine years now!

Book you’re currently reading: Maybe You Should Talk to Someone

Favorite book you read last year: Daisy Jones & the Six

One goal you hope to accomplish this year: So many! But a priority one is being present and purposeful with my time.

A trip you can’t wait to take this year: Paris! Always 🙂 And hopefully London during the holidays.

Something making you excited in 2020: I am attempting to flip my narrative around having to move saying I *get* to move and trying to find excitement in having a new place to settle into.

    Book you’re currently reading: I just finished The Ten Thousand Doors of January –first read of 2020 that wrecked me! Full of magical realism and a gorgeous tale about love, family, and time.

    Favorite book you read last year: Save Me the Plums by Ruth Reichl, hands down. Crisp, delicious, perfect.

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: Getting a new job! This spring is all about applications and redoing my resume…

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: just turned 40 and lost myself with kids , marriage , life. Want to try to put myself at the top of my list again without sacrificing kids and husband . But if momma ain’t happy , nobody is happy!! It is so true ha.

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: Taking our kids to Disney . We haven’t been in 4 years and we are all super excited

    Something making you excited in 2020: Trying to plans lots of trips but a solo trip with my husband is at the top .

      The anxiety battle is real! Do you do meditation? The breathing techniques I learned from it has been a game changer for me when I feel stressed or overwhelmed. And how amazing that you are doing that work in your community to help children – you’re amazing!

    Book you’re currently reading: “Family Trust” by Kathy Wang, “Natalie Tan’s Book of Luck & Fortune” by Roselle Lim, and “Undone” by Karin Slaughter – can never just have one going, I swear I always have a library hold coming up to be checked out!

    Favorite book you read last year: “I’ll Be Gone In The Dark” by Michelle McNamara or “Bad Blood” by John Carreyrou – so many good ones, I love seeing your suggestions! Had many books on my reading list last year from your blog.

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: Continue going to spin! I started at the end of last year and found out I really love it – planning to try your month of ClassPass to get some more classes in.

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: Thinking about planning a trip to Japan but haven’t made any decisions yet… definitely going on a cruise in the Caribbean though

    Something making you excited in 2020: All the possibilities! And meeting my new nephew (being born maybe today!)

    Where are you from? The Netherlands: I was born in Amsterdam, grew up in a small town up north, and have been living in beautiful Leiden for 9 years now!

    Book you’re currently reading: The Secret Life of the American Musical by Jack Viertel and The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

    Favorite book you read last year: Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi and In an Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire.

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: To find a better work/life balance, which as it turns out, is not that easy!

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: I already took it! I went to London earlier this month and being the musical theatre lover I am, I managed to watch 5 shows in 4 days. As my AirBnB host said: wow, you’re really committed!

    Something making you excited in 2020: Doing more of what makes me happy. I’m very good at putting other people’s needs before my own, especially in the workplace, and last year, I learned the hard way how important it is to put my own needs first every now and then. So this year, I look forward to being a little more selfish and go after what I want more often.

    TV show you’ve been watching & loving lately: The Tick on Amazon Prime and Doctor Who (though to be fair: I always love Doctor Who)

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: Working to improve my French

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: For work – Cairo (fingers crossed, since my leadership is a bit skittish about sending me to that region right now). For fun – It’s a bit of a tie between 1) Italy, either Rome or Tuscany, followed by a quick side trip to London; and 2) a return trip to coastal Maine, which I fell in love with last summer.

    Something making you excited in 2020: I’ve been working on expanding my social circle and deepening friendships away from the circles I’d built over most of my life in my hometown. It’s bearing fruit, and I feel blessed by these relationships.

    TV show you’ve been watching & loving lately: Re-watching seasons of Psych on Amazon Prime. It’s goofy and non-stressful, which I need right now!

    Villette by Charlotte Brontë. Supposed to be a masterpiece!

    Favorite book you read last year:
    Probably discovering the magic that is Louise Penny. She writes mysteries that have murders but aren’t really dark, if you can believe that! She’s a super lyrical and compulsively readable writer.

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year:
    Build my confidence as a new mama and wife while trying to not sweat the small stuff. And of course seeing my dear friend, you, over coffee in the nabe!

    Our annual trip to Sanibel Island! My favorite place.

    Watching my infant son become a little boy!

    Fell into Succession after resisting for ages and now mourning it because I finished it. Soooo good!

    Favorite book you read last year: 2019 was SUCH a good year of reading so this is difficult! Some favorites include Beartown, The Great Alone, and The Only Plane in the Sky

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: Run a Marathon! I signed up for one in May. I’m having some IT Band problems right now so training is paused but I’m feeling hopeful that I can start training again soon.

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: Don’t have a destination picked yet but a girls weekend with friends!

    Something making you excited in 2020: I just moved to DC in August, so I’m so excited to make my new city feel like home.

    Something making you excited in 2020: Finally being settled a little bit! Got married in 2018 and bought a house in 2019. It’ll be nice to hopefully not have a major move or event so we can focus on everything else for a bit!
