Where are you from? Grew up outside of Chicago, Illinois and been in New York City for nine years now!

Book you’re currently reading: Maybe You Should Talk to Someone

Favorite book you read last year: Daisy Jones & the Six

One goal you hope to accomplish this year: So many! But a priority one is being present and purposeful with my time.

A trip you can’t wait to take this year: Paris! Always 🙂 And hopefully London during the holidays.

Something making you excited in 2020: I am attempting to flip my narrative around having to move saying I *get* to move and trying to find excitement in having a new place to settle into.

    Book you’re currently reading: I’m also reading Maybe You Should Talk to Someone, as well as Miracle Creek. I’m usually reading one physical book and one audiobook.

    Favorite book you read last year: Tough one… probably The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: build enough cardio and muscular endurance to complete a challenging hike this summer.. haven’t decided which one, but working toward completing the ADK46

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: Most likely Paris & Amsterdam, but maybe Africa?!

    Something making you excited in 2020: new niece, new job, and actually making plans to see friends around the country

    1. HEAR HEAR for savings goals! I will have a money management post up next month that has my best tips so keep an eye out for that 🙂 And SO jealous you’re going to South Africa! My brother used to live in Cape Town and has the best things to say about it. One day I can’t wait to visit!

    Book you’re currently reading: I just finished The Ten Thousand Doors of January –first read of 2020 that wrecked me! Full of magical realism and a gorgeous tale about love, family, and time.

    Favorite book you read last year: Save Me the Plums by Ruth Reichl, hands down. Crisp, delicious, perfect.

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: Getting a new job! This spring is all about applications and redoing my resume…

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: Hopefully New York, for a friend’s wedding.

    Actually your recommendation I just started “The Universe Has Your Back: Turning Fear into Faith” by Gabrielle Bernstein and I LOVE it. I want to give it to everyone in my life it has changed me for the better!

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: just turned 40 and lost myself with kids , marriage , life. Want to try to put myself at the top of my list again without sacrificing kids and husband . But if momma ain’t happy , nobody is happy!! It is so true ha.

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: Taking our kids to Disney . We haven’t been in 4 years and we are all super excited

    Something making you excited in 2020: Trying to plans lots of trips but a solo trip with my husband is at the top .

    TV show you’ve been watching & loving lately: obsessed with Cheer on Netflix. Sad I finished it.

    Something making you excited in 2020: I just became a Guardian ad Litem, so I’m excited to get to work with a kid in my community who is in need.

    TV show you’ve been watching & loving lately: Sex Education

    1. The anxiety battle is real! Do you do meditation? The breathing techniques I learned from it has been a game changer for me when I feel stressed or overwhelmed. And how amazing that you are doing that work in your community to help children – you’re amazing!

    2. Banff is amazing! I was there last year for Labor Day and dream about going back. Congrats to you and your husband on your anniversary!

    Book you’re currently reading: “Family Trust” by Kathy Wang, “Natalie Tan’s Book of Luck & Fortune” by Roselle Lim, and “Undone” by Karin Slaughter – can never just have one going, I swear I always have a library hold coming up to be checked out!

    Favorite book you read last year: “I’ll Be Gone In The Dark” by Michelle McNamara or “Bad Blood” by John Carreyrou – so many good ones, I love seeing your suggestions! Had many books on my reading list last year from your blog.

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: Continue going to spin! I started at the end of last year and found out I really love it – planning to try your month of ClassPass to get some more classes in.

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: Thinking about planning a trip to Japan but haven’t made any decisions yet… definitely going on a cruise in the Caribbean though

    Something making you excited in 2020: All the possibilities! And meeting my new nephew (being born maybe today!)

    TV show you’ve been watching & loving lately: Just finished Cheer last night and LOVED it. Also planning to start Succession soon!

  10. Where are you from? The Netherlands: I was born in Amsterdam, grew up in a small town up north, and have been living in beautiful Leiden for 9 years now!

    Book you’re currently reading: The Secret Life of the American Musical by Jack Viertel and The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

    Favorite book you read last year: Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi and In an Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire.

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: To find a better work/life balance, which as it turns out, is not that easy!

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: I already took it! I went to London earlier this month and being the musical theatre lover I am, I managed to watch 5 shows in 4 days. As my AirBnB host said: wow, you’re really committed!

    Something making you excited in 2020: Doing more of what makes me happy. I’m very good at putting other people’s needs before my own, especially in the workplace, and last year, I learned the hard way how important it is to put my own needs first every now and then. So this year, I look forward to being a little more selfish and go after what I want more often.

    TV show you’ve been watching & loving lately: The Tick on Amazon Prime and Doctor Who (though to be fair: I always love Doctor Who)

    Book you’re currently reading: Jane Austen at Home by Lucy Worsley, and Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen for book club

    Favorite book you read last year: Uprooted by Naomi Novik

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: Working to improve my French

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: For work – Cairo (fingers crossed, since my leadership is a bit skittish about sending me to that region right now). For fun – It’s a bit of a tie between 1) Italy, either Rome or Tuscany, followed by a quick side trip to London; and 2) a return trip to coastal Maine, which I fell in love with last summer.

    Something making you excited in 2020: I’ve been working on expanding my social circle and deepening friendships away from the circles I’d built over most of my life in my hometown. It’s bearing fruit, and I feel blessed by these relationships.

    TV show you’ve been watching & loving lately: Re-watching seasons of Psych on Amazon Prime. It’s goofy and non-stressful, which I need right now!

    Survive wedding planning and get married in August! (Can that be a goal? ?)

    I’m currently in London and then traveling to Paris! Next will be Argentina – I’ve never been to South America!

    A suburb of Rochester, NY. Love all things Wegmans and the Bills! It was the perfect balance of country and city.

    Book you’re currently reading:
    Villette by Charlotte Brontë. Supposed to be a masterpiece!

    Favorite book you read last year:
    Probably discovering the magic that is Louise Penny. She writes mysteries that have murders but aren’t really dark, if you can believe that! She’s a super lyrical and compulsively readable writer.

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year:
    Build my confidence as a new mama and wife while trying to not sweat the small stuff. And of course seeing my dear friend, you, over coffee in the nabe!

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year:
    Our annual trip to Sanibel Island! My favorite place.

    Something making you excited in 2020:
    Watching my infant son become a little boy!

    TV show you’ve been watching & loving lately:
    Fell into Succession after resisting for ages and now mourning it because I finished it. Soooo good!

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: Starting to save money to buy a house (which will take a looong time with DMV prices, haha)
    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: Chicago in March for a friends’ wedding–first time in that city since I was very little!
    Something making you excited in 2020: Settling back into regular life after a year of change in 2019 (got married, and both my spouse and I started new jobs)
    TV show you’ve been watching & loving lately: Instant Hotel on Netflix (basically an Australian Air BnB competition… if the Bachelor met HGTV…)

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: I’ve never taken a solo trip, strongly considering Paris for my birthday in March

    Something making you excited in 2020: Two of my good friends are about to move to London – and I can’t wait to visit!

    Book you’re currently reading: Matchmaking for Beginners — influenced by Becca Freeman/Bad on Paper!

    Favorite book you read last year: 2019 was SUCH a good year of reading so this is difficult! Some favorites include Beartown, The Great Alone, and The Only Plane in the Sky

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: Run a Marathon! I signed up for one in May. I’m having some IT Band problems right now so training is paused but I’m feeling hopeful that I can start training again soon.

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: Don’t have a destination picked yet but a girls weekend with friends!

    Something making you excited in 2020: I just moved to DC in August, so I’m so excited to make my new city feel like home.

    TV show you’ve been watching & loving lately: Spinning Out on Netflix. Reminds me of Ice Princess but just rated PG-13 haha

    Favorite book you read last year: Any Louise Penny book! They are all so good!

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: Make meditation a habit. Headspace steak is currently at 29 days.

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: Vancouver for work and maybe Spain for fun? Still planning.

    Something making you excited in 2020: Finally being settled a little bit! Got married in 2018 and bought a house in 2019. It’ll be nice to hopefully not have a major move or event so we can focus on everything else for a bit!

    Favorite book you read last year: Dear Girls by Ali Wong – so heartfelt, real and HILARIOUS!

    One goal you hope to accomplish this year: Paying off my student loans for good!

    A trip you can’t wait to take this year: Going back to Greece to see family – taking my son there for the first time!

    Something making you excited in 2020: Cross-stitch! I am getting back into my hobbies (knitting especially) and also having fun with the Peloton App and my elliptical.

    TV show you’ve been watching & loving lately: That’s hard! I am on a rewatch of The Crown and then a rewatch of Downton Abbey after that, so need some ideas.
