Over the years with all my travel to France, I began picking up some Chanel Makeup and Chanel Skincare to try. There are some absolute gems to be found in the line and some certain misses as well.
As I have tested more of the makeup than the skincare, this post is focused on Chanel Makeup but I do include a few thoughts on several of their skincare products that I’ve tried at the bottom of the post. I love doing reviews and hope you’ll find this one helpful!
The Best Chanel Makeup Products
Chanel has been doing cosmetics for ages. The brand first introduced its cosmetics arm in 1924 when The Société des Parfums CHANEL company was created to produce and sell perfumes and cosmetics. They hired their first in-house perfume designer and the first collections of powders and lipsticks were created in the same year. Skincare followed in 1927.
Nowadays the brand continues to innovate, regularly launching new collections. In 1995 they introduced the brand’s signature nail polish. In 2006, Chanel launched a new lipstick with intense colors featuring a clever opening system: a single click reveals the Chanel-logo-stamped stick. This lipstick is still sold today!
In 2010, Chanel created Bleu de Chanel, a men’s fragrance that continues to be popular to this day.
To keep up with the “conscious beauty” trend, in 2022, Chanel introduced N°1 DE CHANEL, a line of cosmetics and skincare formulated with anti-aging in mind. All bottles and jars in the line are made from recyclable glass and the entire line harnesses the Red Camellia flower.
I find the brand’s Instagram really inspiring and it actually encouraged me to buy several of the products after seeing their talented makeup artists demo the brand’s various SKUs.
Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Tint
I kept seeing so many Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Tint reviews that I bought the product myself in 2020.
It’s got a super unique gel texture that features “pigmented micro-droplets” that gives very light coverage and a nice radiant, healthy-looking glow.
It’s largely a water based formula so don’t expect much from the coverage but because of the formula it has become my go-to base makeup on hot, sweaty summer days. It feels like next to nothing on your skin and won’t melt off like more traditional base makeup.
At $70 it is pricey for the amount of product but I don’t use it that often and really do rely on it in the dead of summer. I’ve seen people on TikTok say this is a more affordable alternative but I haven’t tried it myself.
I will say I think the brush that comes with this product is useless. You’re far better off using a larger foundation type brush to apply this product on your face. I use my Artis brushmy Artis brush personally
Chanel CC CREAM Super Active Complete Correction Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50
I had to include a Chanel CC Cream review as I actually think, while it is a fine product, the Erborian BB Cream is better and less expensive. The Chanel feels a bit heavy and doesn’t really give much of a glow.
It does deliver on what it says to – brightening, hydrating, correcting and illuminating. It’s a medium-to-full coverage so if you prefer more coverage you may prefer this over the Erborian BB Cream.
N°1 DE CHANEL Lip and Cheek Balm
I like this multi-purpose tinted balm for travel since it does double duty with color for both lip and cheeks. It has a nice mousse-like texture the blends well and is good for dry skin. It’s nourishing and buttery in texture.
Available in nine shades. I use the shade Lively Rosewood.
Chanel ROUGE COCO FLASH Hydrating Vibrant Shine Lip Colour
If you’re a fan of more sheer lip colors, this is a good hydrating one that sits comfortably on the lips. It has a high-shine effect and is buildable depending on how much color you want on your lips.
Chanel STYLO YEUX WATERPROOF Long-Lasting Eyeliner
Available in lots of colors, this liner is resistant to water, humidity and oil making it a go-to for me on summer days. It is smudge-proof and has a retractable tip. It’s my lazy-girl liner if you will.
Chanel ROUGE COCO BAUME Hydrating Beautifying Tinted Lip Balm Buildable Color
A very pricey yet moisture-rich balm that gives off buildable color. It has oil in the formula so it’ll leave lips looking more hydrated and healthy.
Available in seven shades.
Chanel LES BEIGES Healthy Glow Natural Eyeshadow Palette
For the price of this palette, I was totally underwhelmed by the color payoff on the shades. I find they don’t blend well and there are a lot of other better eyeshadows on the market in my opinion.
Chanel LE ROUGE DUO ULTRA TENUE Ultrawear Liquid Lip Colour
This is a double-duty lip product. One end is an ultra-saturated liquid lipstick and the other is a high-shine gloss.
The color is is infused with micro-pigments and innovative polymers so the base glides on smoothly and dries quickly without feathering. Then, swipe on the glossy top coat to get comfortable, exceptional shine and superb hydration. Just be sure to give your lips a moment to dry in between the two coats.
Available in more than 20 colors.
Chanel ROUGE COCO GLOSS Moisturizing Glossimer
I have been singing the praises of this in Shade 722 for many years at this point. I love this hydrating, high shine gloss that just makes lips look so good. Shades are often sold out because it has a cult-like following.
Hands down my favorite Chanel lip product of those I’ve tried.
Chanel LES BEIGES Sheer Healthy Glow Highlighting Fluid
I bought this liquid face highlighter that illuminates skin with a dewy finish after a sales associate at the Chanel Beauty store in Paris demo’d it on me and showed me how pretty it looks on the face but more importantly on your shoulders and décolleté in the summertime.
You can also use it as a makeup primer or you can mix it with your favorite foundation for a super glowy finish.
I have shade Sunkissed.
Chanel LE CRAYON LÈVRES Longwear Lip Pencil
One of my go-to lip pencils because it really helps with my lip color staying power. Choose from loads of shades and know that it was designed to last up to 8 hours.
Chanel LE LINER DE CHANEL Liquid Eyeliner High Precision Longwear
My favorite Chanel makeup product and my very favorite liquid eyeliner I have ever tried. I love the super precise applicator that has made liquid eyeliner a possibility for me! I’ve always struggled with applying liquid eyeliner but this one is the one I have the best success rate with.
The latex-based water-resistant formula delivers intense color with long-wearing results – this liner lasts, trust me.
This is a holy grail beauty product for me. Available in three shades.
Chanel LA BASE MASCARA Volume and Care Lash Primer
I notice such a difference in the appearance of my lashes whenever I use this mascara primer! Not only does it help strengthen lashes with regular use but more importantly, it enhances volume and extends the wear of your preferred mascara.
The formula contains a meadowfoam oil derivative with fortifying properties, as well as plant-based waxes that coat lashes. Fear not, the white color turns translucent after application.
Hands down one of my favorite Chanel Makeup products. Ophthalmologist-tested and suitable for contact lens wearers.
Chanel BAUME ESSENTIEL Multi-Use Glow Stick
This highlighter didn’t do it for me. It is a little sticky and I don’t see enough glow in the Transparent shade I purchased. I much prefer this highlighter.
Now, onto a few skincare products…
Chanel La Crème Main Hand Cream
A hand cream that’s had a cult status since it was first introduced over a decade ago. This hand cream has become a go-to for me. It is moisturizing, brightening and protective with a delicate scent I love.
It absorbs quickly into skin without leaving a sticky residue and improves the look of your skin on your hands with regular use.
N°1 DE CHANEL Revitalizing Serum
I purchased this after using up some samples of it I had received. It has a really lovely gel texture to it and sinks into skin. It’s got impressive clinicals to back up its formula that is meant to fight signs of aging. Skin feels hydrated and fresh after use.
There is fragrance to this product – I personally love it and find it very relaxing but I’d steer clear if fragrance bothers you.
If you’re curious about Chanel perfumes, don’t miss my My Favorite Light and Floral Fragrances post including two Chanel perfumes. They are part of the collection of Les Eaux perfumes, fresh scents that evoke destinations that were dear to Gabrielle Chanel that the brand introduced in 2018.
It does not include a Chanel No 5 Review however as I’m not personally a fan of that fragrance. But I do have a bottle at home as it was my Grandma’s favorite so I have her last bottle as a special sentimental item I hold onto.
Next on my list to try from Chanel is their VITALUMIÈRE AQUA Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup and the LES BEIGES Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream that I’ve heard such good things about. Have any of you tried them?
Have you tried any of these products I’ve reviewed? I’d love to hear your thoughts in Comments below!

I have the dupe of the Chanel water tint – it does SUCH a good job. The Chanel water tint is nice but for the price and what you get in terms of packaging (I was expecting a glass bottle like Bobbi brown) I’d rather get the dupe. I use my hands to apply like I do the Erborian BB cream and it’s great. On days when I need more coverage, I layer the water tint over the BB cream.
