One of the best skincare habits I’ve had for myself for the last 10 years is using Vitamin C serums regularly every morning. Vitamin C brightens the skin, reduces inflammation, can help with collagen production and overall help fight against signs of aging. When I use Vitamin C regularly I notice I look more awake, my makeup looks better and my skin is more firm.

One Love Organics Vitamin C serum

Vitamin C is an ingredient of course featured in lots of foods but when it comes to our skin, it is best absorbed via a topical serum. Our skin loves Vitamin C! Vitamin C as a skincare ingredient is unstable so it’s important that you do your research and find one that is properly formatted and comes in a dark bottle to keep the ingredient active. This will ensure you get the most benefits from it. Ask any dermatologist and you’re likely to have them recommend this powerhouse ingredient as a staple in your skincare routine.

I always am recommending my girlfriends add Vitamin C serums into their skincare routines and so today I am sharing the best vitamin C serums and vitamin c products that work for skin brightening. I have tried a lot and not all Vitamin C serums are created equal. These are the best that I’ve tried in years of testing.

Favorite Skinceuticals Products

Skinceuticals C E Ferulic

This serum is my Vitamin C holy grail. It features ferulic acid and pure vitamin C and vitamin E to enhance your skin’s protection against environmental stressors and environmental damage caused by free radicals. (The serum will work to neutralize free radicals!) It gets applied to your face first thing in the morning after cleansing.

The formula was designed to fight signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles while also firming and brightening. With consistent use I promise you’ll see an improvement in your skin’s firmness overall. I’ve used many, many bottles of this stuff and think it is one of the reasons I’ve not yet done any Botox or filler (and I am in my mid-30s). It works for sensitive skin, too and I have found that it helps to minimize stubborn acne scars.

This stuff smells out of the bottle (and I recommend washing your hands after application!) but the smell will dissipate – trust. It’s expensive but it’s worth it. You just need a couple drops for your whole face so a bottle should last you at least six months.

Clean Skincare Recommendations I wit & whimsy

One Love Organics Botanical C Facial Serum

This is the best affordable Vitamin C serum I’ve tried. It’s great for all skin types and it has a formula that is moisturizing so it is especially great for dry skin and/or mature skin. It’s a natural Vitamin C formula with plant-based ingredients including organic green tea and Vitamin E. It also has a clinically proven botanical active to help increase the appearance of luminosity and nourish skin for a more radiant, even-toned complexion. With regular use you’ll definitely notice skin looks more radiant.

Maya Chia The Superlift Vitamin C-More Treatment

If you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, this advanced and concentrated serum contains three types of bio-available vitamin C including tranexamic acid, ferulic acid esters (plant source), niacinamide and peptides and Stem Cells to help improve brightness and the appearance of uneven skin tone.

I notice an instant improvement in my skin’s firmness when I apply this and I love that it gives a subtle glow upon application, too. The formula is lightweight and with regular use it’ll give skin a more even texture. It works great under makeup, too!

Biossance Squalane + 10% Vitamin C Dark Spot Serum

This serum features 10 percent vitamin C and white shiitake mushroom that starts minimizing the look of dark spots immediately and targets the formation of new ones. 10 percent is the magic number for this powerhouse antioxidant: potent enough to see visible results without the irritation or breakouts associated with stronger serums. It works for normal, dry, combination and oily skin types and thanks to licorice root extract, future dark spots are also fought against.

This serum is vegan, gluten free and cruelty free.

Vitamin C is one of my best habits for anti-aging and I highly recommend you add one into your routine!

How to Use a Vitamin C Serum in your Routine:

It’s important to note that Vitamin C should be used first thing in the morning after you cleanse otherwise it will be essentially rendered useless. You don’t want to use it in the evening and Vitamin C is best absorbed when you use it in a serum format that’s more highly concentrated and not diluted in an SPF or moisturizer format.

If you don’t love a true Vitamin C serum, I can also recommend you try the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum which includes an ingredient they claim is more potent than Vitamin C when it comes to brightening skin.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum

This serum is particularly good when it comes to helping brighten skin that has dark spots. It’s oil free so it is great for anyone with blemish prone skin. This serum also evens skin tone and boosts radiance—proven to be 62 times more effective than vitamin C. It’s had cult-favorite status for years and years and is a brightening serum I use every morning but in tandem with my Vitamin C serum for extra anti aging benefits., The lightweight formula visibly corrects discoloration due to sun damage, acne scars, age and melasma for all skin tones so it is a great option to leave skin looking younger, more refreshed and more glowy.
