J.Crew is a mecca for me- I absolutely adore their clothes. Ever since they got back on track with their style, offerings and fit, I’ve been the biggest fan and they’ve become a “go to” for me.
An interesting article in today’s Times discusses the opening of their newest store on Madison Avenue in the Big Apple and the new designer collection that accompanies it. The collection is
“priced in the stratosphere of Gucci and Prada,” states the Times. WHAT?!
I’m not sure I understand the appeal of such expensive items (like this jacket, priced at a mere $2,200) at a store that’s always been know for their effortlessly chic styles and articles of clothing that can appeal to all sorts of men and women. The brand, while utterly fabulous, just doesn’t scream “Come in here! We can sell you women with more money than God exactly what you want!” I, personally, would rather take that hard earned money to Bloomingdales or Barneys!
You can view the whole collection here and I’d love to know what you think. Would you WITs buy any of those pieces at their current prices? This is going to be one fashion endeavor we definitely HAVE to watch.
