When I studied abroad in Paris the running joke with my friend Kristen was that I could not have looked more American with what I was wearing. You see, I was going to college in California and fully embracing my inner prep and sorority girl style. Otherwise known as: Polo shirts and bright colors g-a-l-o-r-e.
My style these days couldn’t be further from that but sometimes minimal still isn’t my strong suit. Whenever I go to Paris I am always thinking about how I can streamline my aesthetic. They do simple so well. So well that I am envious of their seemingly effortless style.
This outfit was inspired by those chic Parisian women strolling Le Marais with their girlfriends who seemingly rolled out of bed and looked put together. Very Sofia Coppola like (who I coincidentally saw at lunch the day I wore & shot this outfit.) A modern take on the classic turtleneck, simple ponte pants and classic loafers made for walking.
So while I can’t be one of those women living in her perfect arrondisements just yet, at least I can try and emulate their style (right?)
p.s. hi from California! I’m out here for the week and will be posting less as I am soaking up time with friends – thanks for hanging with me! Follow along on Twitter/Instagram/Snapchat @meghandono xx
