Given I spend many weeks a year in France, I often shop and test out some of the best French beauty products on the market. I love shopping up and coming and buzzy brands and I regularly use a lot of the best French skincare brands in my routine at home and on the road.

I first started hearing about Violette FR when it launched as I had followed its founder, French makeup artist Violette Serrat. She and I used to go to the same nail salon in the East Village back when I lived there years ago.

Violette FR Review

Violette is a French born makeup artist with over 20 years of experience having worked for Estee Lauder and Guerlain; among other iconic brands. She started her namesake brand Violette_FR in 2021 to bring the French girl joie de vivre to the beauty industry. She has a popular YouTube channel and a big following on Instagram thanks to her compelling makeup tutorials.

The line started with just a couple of hero products in the skin and makeup categories and has since expanded to hair and fragrance as well. I’ve spent the last year testing a variety of products from the line and today am sharing some of what I think are the best.

10 Best Violette FR Products

Yeux Paint

This brand has makeup products that are great for every day beauty but also for bold beauty. The Yeux Paints were part of the brand’s original debut and are liquid eyeshadows with major pigment payoff. 

They come in both matte and twinkling shades and have a lightweight formula that is buildable and blendable for all day wear – sans smudging, creasing or fading. The founder considers these “jewelry for your eyes” and are a bit too bold for my personal makeup aesthetic but I think they are so fun for red carpet looks and editorial or those of you that like to have fun, imaginative eye looks.

Petal Bouche

French girl beauty has always been equated with an iconic red lip and Petal Bouche’s matte liquid color was initially just offered in red but now comes in other shades, too. 

It has a velvety texture, major color intensity and long staying power. 

Bisou Balm

I wanted to love this but it sadly wasn’t for me as my lips tend to run dry and this formula just made them look even more dry. But if you like the “just bitten” look of a lip color, you’ll like this matte lipstick-meets-balm hybrid. It has a blurring effect and comes in several shades. 

The Bisou Balms have now gone viral on TikTok for that understated just bitten “bouche mordue” effect.

Bisou Jelly

Following the success of the Violette FR Bisou Balm, the brand released Bisou Jelly. 

An antioxidant-rich lip balm-meets-lipstick that delivers a sheer kiss of color with a touch of natural shine. Engineered with two distinct layers—a pigmented core that allows for blurred color within the natural lip, and an outer jelly layer infused with Vitamin E.

Bisou Blush

I love this cream blush! It has a unique marbled formula that’s a swirl of two shades. One, more sheer and the other a richer hue. They blend together to create a multidimensional, natural looking wash of color inspired by the “sfumato” painting technique.

Better yet? There’s an attached brush on this dual-sided blush that allows you to blend conveniently and making this perfectly portable, too. The brush is even detachable so you can wash it!

Baume Shine

This pocket-friendly universal highlighter is infused with skin-loving ingredients like Squalane, Sodium Hyaluronate, Vitamin E and Vitamin C.  It’s made with light-reflective mirror pigments so it’ll naturally illuminate all skin tones for a glass skin effect.

The brand sized it so that you can apply anywhere…cheekbones, Cupid’s bow, even eyelids and the inner corners of the eyes.

Boum Boum Milk

The brand says this product took over three years to perfect and I love its innovative formula. It was designed to be a 3-in-1 product: toner, serum and moisturizer and comes in a liquid spray that I find is best when sprayed into your hand and then applied to skin.

It hydrates, smoothes and softens skin for a more radiant complexion. With extended use, it soothes and reduces inflammation and redness, improves firmness, and reduces wrinkle length and depth, restoring skin back to its optimal healthy state. When my skin is feeling dry and overly sensitized, I reach for this and I definitely find it helps to make my skin feel less inflamed. 

The probiotic-based formula is dermatologist tested, non-comedogenic and made with 99% naturally derived ingredients suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and acne-prone. 

C’est La Creme

Potent but gentle, it works within 48 hours to reduce inflammation and redness and soothe sensitive reactions. The brand says that it is also even more effective when used regularly.
