So in New York last week one of the first things I had to do was visit SOHO’s newest (and one of the most talked about) additions, Topshop. Originally hailing from London, Topshop has made its mark by offering chic and edgy clothes but aiming to be affordable. I’ve got to say though, I was disappointed!
While they do a great job of offering a pretty good mix between your typical basics like tees and leggings, they also offer a whole slew of trend items. Right now they are offering gobs of floral items. There are floral dresses, floral mini skirts, floral tanks with ribbon accents and floral tights. They also have a ton of neon bursting off of every rack. The problem with the trend items is that most of them were either SO over the top or they were SO uber-trendy that I couldn’t see myself wearing them past a 2010. And while stores like H&M and Forever 21 make buying super trendy articles logical, Topshop bills itself as being affordable, their prices were just too steep for what they were offering- in both options & quality.
So while we were way underwhelmed, we think if you go often enough you could find something worthwhile!

I went in London in 2000 when it was new and all the rage. Wasn’t excited by it then either. I thought with new designers, it might be better, guess not.
