Today I am so excited to be launching a new series called Witty Conversation With…and I am kicking things off with the one and only Hallie Wilson of Corals + Cognacs. A girl who constantly inspires me and whom I’m lucky enough to call a friend. This series is geared towards profiling people I’ve met/am friends with/have worked with/etc., who kickass at what they are doing and it is designed as a quick Q&A to share some of their awesome-ness with all of you!
Tell me about yourself in 3 sentences.
I teach at SoulCycle. I’m always hungry. I aspire to inspire.
What does a “typical” day look like for you?
It depends how many classes I am teaching — I try to have days devoted to teaching and days devoted to blogging. Typically, though, every single day I exercise, create playlists (for class), and blog-related tasks, like answering e-mails, writing or accounting. (Not all of it is fun stuff!) I also make an effort to spend a few hours offline every day — whether it’s at home, in a yoga studio and so on. Digitally detoxing will make your life better instantly, I promise!
If you had to recommend your top 3 places to eat/drink in your city, what would they be?
Westville, The Spotted Pig & Birch Coffee.
What’s your favorite way to let loose?
Rose all day!
What’s a piece of advice you’d give your younger self?
Above all else, be genuinely and authentic. And while you’re at it, put down your phone, get more sleep and be nice to people. Always!
Who (or what) inspires you?
Music and movement.
What 3 adjectives best describe you?
Thoughtful, ambitious, energetic.
What are 3 of your favorite apps and why?
Snapchat (behind-the-scenes — I’m @coralsncognacs), Shazam (to discover new music) and Twitter (to keep in touch with riders, readers and friends).
Favorite celebrity style?
Chrissy Tiegan — I love how she oozes confidence and respect.
What’s something you’re working on currently? Personally? Professionally?
Finish this sentence: “I have a dream…”
… of helping people be better versions of themselves. (Sounds super fake, I know; but truly. I do.)
You have the best mantras – what’s one you’re digging right now and why?
Ha, thanks! Right now, I’m all about creating good energy. Some people will shit on your dream(s), but that’s just the way things go. It’s an unfortunate thing, but honestly: Fuck ’em! You should never, ever apologize for loving the shit out of something. Your passions are your purpose! Don’t ever let anyone dull your enthusiasm.

Many thanks to Hallie for participating in this and check back here twice a month moving forward for additional profiles as part of the series! I have some other stellar ones in the hopper!

Thanks so much, Jillian! I’m super pumped about it! And hallie is truly the best.
Loved this, I love how your questions were fun but also things that really matter. I just went to my first soul cycle class with Hallie over the weekend after reading her blog for a while, it was so fun!
Thanks so much, Nan! Hallie’s classes are SUCH fun – so glad you got to go to one while she is still in NYC!
