Getting Wedding Ready

June 28, 2016

Anyone else on the wedding season rotation? Mine was relatively short this year with two in May but in the past I’ve had years with up to NINE weddings. Kid you not! I’ve also been a bridesmaid/MOH seven times so today I thought I’d share a few tips to get your beauty routine prepped and perfected for each of those weddings on your social calendar this season.

An Easy Everyday Eye Look I wit & whimsy

Brows

Brows have been “having a moment” for years now it feels like but I still know so many girls who don’t do anything to theirs when putting their face on! I use both a pomade to tame my brows and then a pencil to fill mine in. But before you DIY, I always recommend getting your brows professionally tended to every quarter (some people require more often but I go every few months personally). I do threading on mine as waxing leaves my sensitive skin too irritated. I’d recommend doing the threading about a week before any event such as a wedding. Read more about brows right this way.

Get a Slight Tan

Anyone else had a self-tanning nightmare? I have (it involved towel application – it was a major yikes!). That being said, everyone’s skin always looks healthier with a bit of more glow so before any wedding I always do a few applications of this tanning moisturizer. It builds a really subtle color over time so by starting a week out you can determine whether you want to do more days or not. I highly recommend you do a body scrub beforehand so skin is smoothed and prepped before applying the tanning lotion.

How to get wedding readyDon’t Forget the Feet

I’ve shared my use of the Amopé Pedi Perfect Rechargeable Wet & Dry Foot File in this post and this post and it is the perfect secret weapon to get your feet ready for those sandals you’ll be sporting for many hours when you attend a wedding. I highly recommend using it in the shower the day before the wedding so you eliminate any dry skin, soften any calluses – all without a pedicure. Feet are left soft and ready to dance the night away. You can purchase it here.

Striped Head Wrap

Whiten that Smile

I am a massive advocate of Crest 3D Whitestrips. I always recommend this SKU to people should you ever experience sensitivity like I do but if you follow the directions on the box (1 treatment every day for two weeks), you will be amazed with your results. I generally don’t follow that to a T but I do five or six day stretches of the treatments before any big event.

Clutch Essentials

You’re ready for the wedding but if you’ll be outdoors or dancing a lot, don’t forget to have the right essentials in your clutch. My go-to items are Band-Aids, blotting sheets, lip liner + lipstick (the liner will help your color last longer and prevent it from feathering!) and a pressed powder compact.

What are your favorite ways to prep for a big event like a wedding?
