Just like my skin has changed over time, so has my hair. When I was younger I loved having a bob. I felt chic with a proper haircut! In college I experimented with bangs and learned a valuable lesson in not repeating history’s mistakes – ha!
In college was also when I started coloring my hair. My friends back home in Chicago used to joke that every time I came back home from school in California I was a bit blonder (they were right!) But it was after college that I started embracing longer locks and it’s stuck (generally) ever since.
I feel like with how hair changes over time (mine used to be curly and thick and now it is finer and wavy) I only have a certain period of time I can tend to my healthy, long hair so I tend to only ever go for a little trim when I sit down at the salon. I’ll play with my color but otherwise I love the versatility having long hair has given me. (That being said, I kind of love the slightly shorter do I’ve been sporting since after these photos were taken!)
Over the years I’ve also learned to “train” my hair. I’ve trained it to be ok not being washed every few days and trained it to love dry shampoo. Then there’s the training it for getting soft and supple whenever I change up my shampoo + conditioner. I keep several types in my shower all year round and Garnier has been there since high school. Their conditioners are one of the best I’ve ever tried! I’ve been using Garnier Fructis Sleek + Shine for years and years and was excited to try their new Garnier Whole Blends collection when it recently came out.
Garnier Whole Blends are paraben-free formulas and even feature ingredients that give back such as argan oil, coconut oil and cocoa butter ingredients that are purchased fairly and sustainably.
Like all the Garnier hair products, the Whole Blends collection smells amazing. I chose the hydrating formula given the heat, salt water and other elements my hair has been up against this summer and have loved how soft it has made my hair. It features coconut water and vanilla milk extracts that work to soften dehydrated locks and the smell is somewhat addictive.
And let us have a moment for the mask that is part of this line. It is heaven-sent. I use hair masks 2-3x per week in the summer and couldn’t love this one more. I always comb it through in the shower and clip it up to let it really soak in for several minutes before rinsing it out.
So just like my attention to skincare, I am always looking for ways to give my hair extra TLC. So often in the summer it has to go up but I had such fun styling it to go with this particular ensemble that is a bit of Fall meets Summer with the button-down and jeans shorts!
Hope you’ve all had a great week! The Friday weekly roundup will be live at 3pm ET this afternoon so be sure to check back for it 🙂

I’ve used the coconut oil version of this set, and I’m obsessed! The scent is absolutely amazing. It makes me feel like I’m on a tropical island!

RIGHT!? It is so good. I love how good your hair smells for several days afterwards, too (I try to only wash a couple times a week :)) Have a good weekend, Kendal!
