Blue Apron Wellness Review

I’ve now been a Blue Apron customer for all of 2021 and it’s been a highlight each week to get my selected meals in the mail. I love the variety, the easy prep and so much more about the service.

In June I switched over to being a Wellness menu customer so that my meals each week are auto-populated to their Wellness offerings. Today I wanted to share a bit more about my experience with the Wellness meals that Blue Apron offers.

If you’re looking for a reset as you approach 2022 I can highly recommend you sign up for Blue Apron’s nutritionist-approved Wellness recipes.

Each week, Blue Apron offers 50 meal options, including a few Wellness meals that are specially designed meals planned with holistic health in mind.

The Wellness meals are delicious, super full of flavor and feature wholesome ingredients – each one makes me feel full, I don’t feel like I am sacrificing or missing out when I have a Wellness meal.

Like other Blue Apron recipes, you can swap, add or upgrade ingredients in your Wellness meal or you can do an Add-on like an appetizer, a side or a dessert. I haven’t yet tried the Add-ons but I’m excited to do so given how much I’ve loved my Blue Apron dinners!

The Wellness meals are designed to be full of veggies, be carb-conscious and they also have WW™ approved options, too. (If you’re following a WW plan, Blue Apron makes this simple. Your recipe cards let you scan and track your SmartPoints®? based on your myWW+ color!)

What I love about the Wellness meals is that they use such creative flavor combinations, they come with (somewhat addicting) sauces and they’ve got loads of great spices. And they’re under 600 calories! The Wellness meals also feature a lot of fish and seafood which I’ve loved as I now find cooking fish a lot less intimidating than I did before.

Some examples of Blue Apron Wellness Meals:

  • Lime & Date Chicken with Vegetable Farro
  • Tomatillo-Poblano Chicken Thighs with Roasted Butternut Squash & Potatoes
  • Couscous-Stuffed Poblano Peppers with Spinach, Raisins & Tahini Dressing
  • Lentil & Roasted Squash Salad with Jalapeño Vinaigrette & Creamy Salsa Verde
  • Chipotle Turkey & Veggie Casserole with Spaghetti Squash & Jalapeño Sour Cream

And my personal favorites that I’ve tried to date?

  • Spicy Chipotle Chicken & Rice Bowls with Tomatoes, Sweet Peppers & Peanuts
  • Sheet Pan Italian Pork Roast with Fingerling Potatoes, Brussels Sprouts & Hot Honey Dressing
  • Oregano Chicken & Fresh Tomato Pan Sauce with Farro & Zucchini
  • Italian Chicken & Zucchini with Pesto-Pepper Rice (this was so good cold for lunch the next day, too!)
  • Guajillo-Honey Turkey Lettuce Wraps with Marinated Radishes & Pepitas

Is your mouth watering yet?

If you see a Blue Apron recipe you really want to try one week that doesn’t fall under Wellness but you signed up as a Wellness customer – don’t worry – you can still pick whatever meals you’d like to try each week! If I see a Blue Apron pasta I’m dying to try – I add it to my rotation. But since June I have tried to choose at least two of my three recipes to be Wellness recipes.

Like all Blue Apron recipes, nearly all the Wellness meals can be made in under 35 minutes, you can skip weeks when you want to or need to and you can forget about meal planning and extra grocery runs.

Following 2020’s extensive adventures in meal planning and cooking and just feeling burnt out from it, Blue Apron has remained my saving grace. I love getting six meals each week and then not feeling guilty leaving a full fridge at home when I want to eat out. The Wellness meals ensure I get better servings of veggies in my diet and keep me eating better than when I am left to my own devices.

With Blue Apron I’ve learned all sorts of new flavor combinations, I produce less food waste and I’ve learned some fun techniques, too.

If you want to reset your routine and try Blue Apron, you can sign up for Blue Apron now to get $110 off + free shipping on your first box (You can delay your start date till the new year if you’d like to use the Wellness meals as a post-holiday reset!)

Just signed up! I think it’s really hard to shop for ingredients when you’re meal-planning for one, but love that it’s sized specifically for two portions only.

Aw yay! I couldn’t agree more and I truly love that you get 6 meals out of it – I almost always enjoy my second portion for lunch the next day! Hope you love it as much as I do.
