Designer Bags Under $1000

Designer bags have always been an indulgence. But with an explosion of interest in the luxury goods market in recent years, finding great designer bags under $1,000 can feel next to impossible.

I do think designer bags can make an outfit and certain styles can absolutely be a great investment. Certain designer bags increase their value over time. But I didn’t start buying designer bags until I was in my 30s and I first started my bag collection with more attainable designer brands like Coach and Kate Spade that were in-budget for me before I graduated to luxury designers.

28 Designer Bags Under $1000

As you browse the below styles I’ve curated, remember that you can also look at designer resale sites like The RealReal, Vestiare Collective and Fashionphile for like-new and lightly used designer goods.

I also love browsing the Shopbop Archive to see what gems they have.

Loewe Small Leather Trimmed Raffia Tote

My most used summer bag is this chic and understated bag that captures the spirit of a summer spent on France’s cote d’azur. It is perfectly sized to hold all of your daily essentials.

Loewe Paula’s Ibiza Tote

Another great over the shoulder tote bag perfect for styling all summer long with your favorite summer dresses.

Toteme Scoop Suede Clutch

So simple and yet so striking. I can’t decide if I like the soft gray or the black more but either way you can’t go wrong with this clutch that you’ll get so much wear out of.

3.1 Phillip Lim ID Bag

Every girl needs a good crossbody bag that you can wear during the day or transition to night. This new bag from 3.1 Phillip Lim (a brand that had all but fell off my radar despite having a chokehold on street style when I first moved to NYC 14 years ago tbh) is beautiful. It’s understated yet special feeling and perfectly transitions from more casual to dressier looks.

And at under $700 this one is a much better price point than a lot of designer bags from European brands.

Tory Burch Romy Tote

I got this bag earlier this year and was surprised how much wear it got. I love it for being so understated (unlike many of Burch’s bag designs) yet a practical shape for lots of wear.

Demellier New York Leather Tote

This brand’s bags have the vibes of Celine or Saint Laurent but are much more an attainable price point. DeMellier’s ‘New York’ tote has been handcrafted in Southern Spain using traditional techniques. It’s made using textured-leather in a softly folded shape and features tubular handles that will sit comfortably in the crook of your arm or over your shoulder.

There’s more than enough space inside for your wallet, sunglasses case and latest read. The larger size would make for an excellent work bag under $1,000.

Demellier Santorini Bag

Less money than Loewe straw totes and yet super chic, the Demellier Santorini bag comes in a variety of colors.

Demellier Paris Top Tote Bag

This bag looks like it comes from a French luxury label and yet it is under $600. I got the above black one and think it is so darling.

Demellier Vancouver Crossbody Bag

Similar in style to my Celine Box bag but a fraction of the price, the DeMellier’s ‘Vancouver’ shoulder bag comes in a variety of leather and raffia and  leather or canvas and leather in a structured shape.

These crossbody bags fasten with the signature double arrow-shaped clasp that matches the gold-tone hardware at the top.

Demellier Tokyo Leather Shoulder Bag

This bag feels reminiscent of Saint Laurent’s iconic shoulder bags but I actually prefer it because it doesn’t have the big emblazoned YSL logo.

Similar is this Mini Candy Bag by Mansur Gavriel.

Gucci Opiedia Mini Bag

If you’re a fan of the Gucci logo canvas print, this is a darling mini bag under $1000 from the brand. Or this similar one.

Marni Raffia Tote

Leather and raffia surround the Marni logo on this summer-ready bag.

Jacquemus Le Bambino Bag

Jacquemus’ shows always feature a curation of the French designer’s much-adored bags and the ‘Le Bambino’ top handle bag design is arguably their most recognizable. It is made from hand-selected leather and has a single card slot at the back.

Jacquemus makes some of the most attainable French luxury price point designer bags available.

If you prefer a strap, try this style.

Saint Laurent Calypso Clutch

Understated yet luxurious this clutch is made from supple leather padded for pillowy softness. It’s sized for just the essentials and punctuated with a gold-tone logo plaque. Perfect for dressed up or dressed down outfits.

Saint Laurent Uptown Pouch

This pouch fits everything you need for an evening out. It’s been made in Italy from textured-leather and decorated with the iconic ‘YSL’ hardware in gold hardware. It now comes in various colors and materials so there’s lots of options to choose from.

Hunting Season Satin Clutch

This is such a gorgeous evening clutch.

Hunting Season Leather Clutch

A beautiful clutch that just looks like it’ll get better and better with age and will never go out of style.

I also love the look of the brand’s under $1000 little top handle bag that’s been quite popular the last few seasons.

Dragon Diffusion

They make super cool woven bags. Their Bamboo Triple Jump is what put the label on the map. It’s so versatile and looks more high end in construction than the (many) knockoffs by high street brands.

Liffner Belted Bucket Bag

So chic and under $700. I’ve heard people rave about the quality of the bags from this brand. I’m adding this one to my own personal wish list to add to my bag collection.

There are a couple sizes to choose from FYI.

Liffner Slouch Bucket Bag

Bottega vibes but for less. A great carry everything bucket bag in a dreamy suede.

Liffner Sprout Tote

This would make for a great travel or work tote. It’s giving Khaite but for much, much less.

Liffner Pillow Pouch Bag

This bag is, too cute! Love the versatility of it. I’ve added it to my personal wish list.

The brand has a variety of styles on Shopbop, too if you prefer to shop there.

Neous Phoenix Suede Clutch

This brand makes super luxe feeling accessories when it comes to bag and shoes. Their sleek suede baguette clutch is a favorite.

Tory Burch Lee Radziwell Bag

Very understated for the Tory Burch brand, I love the lock on this and that you can wear it either as a crossbody or as a clutch. This would be a great option if you love the Hermes Kelly styles but they are out of budget for you.

Toteme T-Lock Clutch

As seen on so many it girls the past two seasons. I fear it won’t be under $1000 for much longer. Choose from suede or leather for under $1000 or splurge for the croc that will be a higher price point.

Wit Whimsy Blogger Meghan Donovan sharesMansur Gavriel Bucket Bag

Mansur Gavriel Cabas Tote

Mansur Gavriel was first made famous for their tote bags and their new Cabas tote bucket bag is the newest style making headlines.

I bought it as it was a fraction of the price of the similar The Row style I had my eye on.

Staud

Staud is one of my favorite fashion labels for both clothing and their well-made bags that are always on-trend.

A.P.C.

A.P.C’s French bags have cult-like status with Parisian girls and I like the Grace Bag in particular.

Are Designer Bags Worth It?

If you’re a fashion fan and love to make a statement with your accessories, designer bags are absolutely worth it. I think it is best to buy them in neutral colors you won’t tire of. Doing so also ensures better resale value in my experience.
