We are nearing “wear a dress every day” season as far as I am concerned. As I do this part of every summer, I am putting my collection of dresses to work of late following a variety of trips where I had a few with me that I needed to really work to change up how they were styled via my collection of accessories.
Summer Dresses
With summer weather settling in, I’ve updated my round up a bunch of my go-to dresses from both this summer and summers past. In fact, I’ve been throwing on lots of linen dresses and my collection of midi dresses in other lightweight fabrics and summer florals.
My collection of dresses isn’t huge (I don’t have the closet space!) so I am thoughtful about those I add, those I rewear a lot and those I decide to retire.
Read on for the dresses I can’t stop wearing this season and remember I always try to keep the Dresses and Skirts category of The Shop up to date.
In addition, I went ahead and shopped at my favorite online retailers and rounded up a variety of styles I am loving right now if you’d like me to hold your hand virtually while shopping! Every style, every budget.
The dresses I can’t stop wearing:
My favorite dress of the last two summers that I haven’t stopped telling you guys about!
Loved the black so much I bought the white, too. Size L. The details on this dress are so special and it made me fall in love with the whole newer-to-me-brand.
I just re-wore this dress for my birthday in NYC last month, too. I always get compliments in it!
Floral Linen Dress
While the dress above is sold out, Posse has a gorgeous collection of floral dresses! I usually size up in the brand.
This ladylike midi dress with the best full skirt.
I have it in four colors. It is *that* good. Recommend sizing up. I’m wearing an 8.

The Wells dress did so well they came out with the Wylie which is similar in style but with spaghetti straps. Wearing an 8.
La Ligne Desi Dress
La Ligne makes the most special dresses with lovely details. This has pretty pleating on the skirt, a built-in belt a cute bodice detailing. Wearing a 10.
*The* Amazon dress. You can’t beat the price.
I also like to pair it with this designer belt to dress it up.
WHBM Eyelet Trim Dress
Pretty and perfectly feminine. Wearing an 8.
This showstopper of a Tanya Taylor dress (wearing size 8).
Size up for sure. One of my most worn dresses this summer.

Sezane Dorotha Dress
I love a feminine bow-shoulder dress and this one has smocking at the back and a slit that isn’t *too* high.
Wearing an 8.
Jenni Kayne Rove Dress
This dress is a dream. It’s got a flattering fit, pockets and a sleek silhouette. It was originally called the Rhode dress when I first purchased it and the fabric had some texture and a lived in feel.
Now it is called the Rove dress and comes in a silkier fabric with the same silhouette.
I own the M and the L in the newer fabrics. I own it in three colors now! Use code MEGHANDONO10 for 10% off your JK order.
Jenni Kayne Blair Dress
The ideal summer linen shift dress. Simple, chic and easy to style.

Jenni Kayne Garden Dress
I love the classic gingham pattern of this seersucker maxi dress. The ideal summertime dress.
Wearing a M.
Seen styled with the Jenni Kayne Finley Cardigan which is my favorite for over the shoulder styling. I also wear it backwards buttoned up.
It is rather shrunken in style so I sized up to an XL.

Reformation Linen A-Line Dress
This beautiful gingham midi dress from Reformation (size 8) is one of my favorite new pieces this Summer! I have a feeling it will be on heavy rotation. I just bought it in black, too.
Jenni Kayne Rio Slip Dress
The Rio Slip Dress boasts a slight v-neck, stylized seams, a super-soft silk fabric and an effortless drape that makes it deal for dressing up or dressing down. Wearing a M.
I also own the pretty Riviera Slip Dress in a worn linen in Navy but haven’t photographed it yet. It’s another good dress to dress up or dress down. I own the M.

This stunning lace maxi dress by Waimari (size L). Perfect for summer wedding season.
Available in white, also which I bought to wear to my birthday party in Paris.
J.Crew Elena Shirtdress
How perfect is this midi shirt dress? The full skirt had me adding it to my cart immediately. It’s a perfect lightweight cotton so I know it’ll get use all through summer. The white is a bit sheer so I am wearing a slip underneath. Wearing a size 6.

Tuckernuck Chloe Dress (size L).
If you prefer color, this dress comes in loads of fun colors.
I also have the Tuckernuck Mini Chloe Dress in Navy (size L) and it’s perfect for summer styling with a basket bag and woven ballet flats.
While I usually prefer a midi dress this mini isn’t too short and great for summer styling.
Frank and Eileen Casual Shirt Dress (wearing a M)
I added a striped sweater draped over my shoulders for some contrast.
Frank and Eileen makes a cute ruffle collar shirt dress, too.
This laid back crochet dress from Amazon.
Size M.
This great knit dress from Amazon.
Size L. I love it for days you just can’t pick out an outfit in the summer. I’ve been touting it for years.

Thank you for this round-up! Would you kindly share the slip dress you wear under the Eileen Fisher dress (and I think you’ve mentioned under the Nap Dresses as well)? I looked on your LTK and couldn’t find it. Thank you!

So appreciate your thoughtful wardrobe recommendations Meghan – especially sizing advice! I’m currently debating the J Crew Elena shirtdress vs. the Tnuck Chloe shirtdress, both in black, and wonder what you think re:fabric: I’m honestly a bit shocked that the Chloe dress is about 2x the price (I’m shopping in Canadian dollars) but 80% polyester (Elena = 100% cotton). Ordinarily I wouldn’t go for synthetic at all, especially not at that price…and it seems that you tend to favour natural fibres more often too. Can you weigh in on your sense of the fabrics? (Chloe silhouette is perhaps a bit more elevated vs Elena more everyday … maybe changing out J Crew’s buttons for gold / silver would make it look higher-end…?)
I think the Chloe is much dressier! The Elena is far more casual and not as tailored. So really depends how you plan to wear and style it! The Chloe fabric has a nice weight to it.
Thanks!
