Favorite workout clothes I wit & whimsy

As I’ve begun sharing my workout progress more on Instagram the past couple of months I’ve been getting lots of questions about favorite sports bras, leggings, sizing on things, etc. so I decided it was time to share all my workout clothes I love the most lately.

My Current Favorite Workout Clothes

I have plenty of workout clothes that are “just ok” or that haven’t stood the test of time. I hang onto some for days when all my favorites are in the laundry but in general I’m just really picky about workout clothes – especially sports bras. You can trust that all those included below are damn good and have been tried and tested by me personally.

Alo High Waist Airbrush Legging

I bought these for my walks in Australia last November and really loved them. They definitely sculpt and smooth and look really good on. They come in loads of colors and I may get a bright, fun color next. I have a size Small. They are on the thicker side so they’re best in Fall & Winter.

Lululemon Align Legging

I own six pairs (three black, one burgundy, one navy) of these now because I wear them that much. They are! Truly, I don’t think there’s a legging I love more. So soft, so wearable – no pulling or bunching or falling down. I wear these for yoga (I love that they hold up to my hot yoga classes!), I wear these for BBG, I wear these for walks outside, I wear these just around the house…I wear these a lot. And I wear a size 6.

Athleta Conscious Crop

I have the Medium D-DD and am wearing it in the above photo. Note it comes with cup inserts but I removed them. I never thought this top would work for me (my friend Carly finally insisted I try it) but it turns out it is great for yoga and core workouts that I’ve been doing. Also seen on me here.

Athleta Ultimate Train Tank

I prefer high neck workout tanks and this one fits my criteria for sweaty workouts. I wear size Medium.

APL Techloom Sneakers

Oh how I love these sneakers! So comfortable and yet stylish. I am so picky when it comes to my sneakers and when I booked my trip to Australia last year I decided to splurge on these after reading a lot of hype. I have worn them for practically every walk I’ve gone on in quarantine and they are what I also choose to wear for any hikes or other outdoor activities pre-quarantine. And I love that you don’t have to wear socks with them! I sized down half a size to 6.5.

Everlane Perform Legging

These are thin and functional and great for workouts. They are more of a sheen fabric than my beloved Lululemon ones so definitely less lounge-y and more for fitness. I am wearing them in the above photo. I have both a Medium and a Small and prefer the fit of the Small. The brand also just came out with a bike short version in the same material and I got them to workout in this summer.

Sweaty Betty High Shine Legging

These are just so fun to wear. I love the chic shine of them that makes them feel a bit more fashion as far as leggings go. And I always get compliments on these when I wear them. I have size Small.

Vuori Energy Tank

I love this tank so much! It is the softest fabric ever and it is so flattering on. You can see it on in this post. I have a size Medium.

Vuori Joggers

love these joggers that are equal parts sporty and lounge-y. Great for walks, great for wearing around the house and now have a cult following in my group of girlfriends. I wear a size Small. You will love these joggers – trust.

Nike Metcon Cross Training Sneakers

These are the sneakers I wear to do BBG in.

Lululemon Align Jogger

I rejoiced when Lululmeon released a jogger style of the beloved Align legging. They are so sporty and yet chic. I have worn these so much since they arrived at the start of shelter in place. I wear size 6.

Sweaty Betty All Train Sports Bra

HANDS. DOWN. THE. BEST. SPORTS. BRA. As someone with a large chest sports bras are always, always a challenge. Half the ones I try that are marketed as “high support” can’t take me jumping in place and I have to return. It’s truly frustrating. Then I found this bra. I couldn’t believe the price when I saw it but I’ll tell you what – it’s worth every penny because I don’t worry about anything when I wear this sports bra. I really laughed when I saw some negative reviews of it being hard to put on – because in my mind it’s what makes this bra truly work and truly be supportive. You have to hoist your boobs up into it and then lock them in in the back so to speak. But then you’re good to go!

Run in it, jump in it – put it to the test. I have two of this bra now and will probably buy a third before the year is over. It’s just worth it to me to have a sports bra I can really rely on for my high intensity workouts. I wear size 32DDD/F.

Lululemon All Tied Up Tank

A great tank that has a bit of fashion to it. I love it for its high neck in particular. I wear size 8.

Reebok Pure Move Bra

This is a good, supportive sports bra. Not the most beautiful or stylish but it holds your boobs in place during workouts. I sadly don’t know what size it is that I own because it’s not listed on the reversible bra. Sorry!

Lululemon On The Fly Short

My go-to short this time of year to do walks outside. I love that they have the look of an athletic short without looking like a running short. And I pair mine with a t-shirt often. I wear size 8.

Lululemon Energy Bra

This is a good bra for yoga and any less-intense workouts you may be doing. I wear a size 8.

Lululemon Align 4″ Short

I plan to buy a second pair once restocked as I know they are going to be in heavy rotation during this summer. Perfect for yoga but I also wear on particularly hot days to do my BBG. I wear size 8.

Lululemon Fast and Free Tight

A flattering yet functional workout legging I wear often during BBG. they do show sweat so I’d steer clear of the colors and stick to black. I wear a Size 6.

Nike Swoosh Bra

I own at least five of these bras. They are inexpensive and reliable and really, really hold up. Most of those that I own I’ve had for more than five years. Good enough for workouts involving jumping and really comfortable. I wear size Medium. Also available on Amazon if you prefer to shop there.

Athleta Formation Longline Bra

I just bought the D-DD in size Small and am really pleased with the snug, supportive fit of this new-to-me bra. It’s super flattering on thanks to its “longline” style and it passed my BBG jump test – a major feat.

Nike Tights

I rediscovered these in my drawer during quarantine and forgot how great they are! They are particularly ideal for summer as they are super thin and yet remain supportive.

p.s. how I’m prioritizing my mental health these days and my initial BBG results.
