If you don’t live in New York you may not know that all summer long we New Yorkers try to find reasons to get out of the city for the weekends. But can I tell you a secret? I kind of love summer weekends in the city!
This summer I’ve traveled less and so I’ve had such a good time taking advantage of being in the city. While the heat can be something to get used to, it’s all the more reason to head to spots where you can enjoy the breeze off the water or sit outdoors in the shade sipping on cold drinks.
This summer I’ve been loving taking the ferry to get to various spots instead of heading underground to the subway and I’ve also been spending quite a bit of time down in DUMBO by the river which is a quick 15 minute walk away from my new apartment.
Yesterday I also did a day trip out to Fire Island with some girlfriends. It’s a bit of a trek for the day but perfect to be able to enjoy most of the weekend in the city while still getting in some beach time.
I’ve got several trips in the next month so I’m so glad I took advantage of my weekends spent in New York while I had them! It allowed me to get settled into my new neighborhood and tick off some items from my summer bucket list!
Of course, as someone who loves New York, I had to nab this $45 sweatshirt from J.Crew as soon as I saw it! It has the best fit (I’m wearing a Medium) and I love the city pride :). J.Crew’s new arrivals are finally on point and there’s lots to love right now. I rounded up my favorites below but let’s particularly talk about this jacket, this white shirt button down bodysuit to avoid bunching (!!!) and this transitional sweater.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

p.s. a ruffled mini dress I’ve been wearing on repeat and mid-summer budget buys.
I love that sweatshirt! I definitely agree with enjoying staying in the city during the weekends. Especially since there are so many things to do!
