Men’s London Packing List for Spring & Summer
As the founder of En Route to Rêverie I have helped hundreds of people plan a trip to London via Rêverie in London. And we’ve published dozens of packing guides for women here on w&w but wanted to finally develop a great men’s packing list for spring and summer trips to London.
Don’t miss my London in Spring Packing List for women.
London has eternal charm and dare I say some of the best dressed men? I always love seeing what men are wearing in the capital as I commute on the tube and walk the streets on each of my many return visits.
If you’re headed to London as or with a male, here’s your ultimate London packing guide for Spring and Summer with essentials from brands I love for men that embody understated cool, like Rails, Octobre, East Dane, Everlane, Alex Mill, APC, J.Crew, Bonobos, Faherty and Marine Layer. I also consulted some of the most stylish men in my life for this post to include pieces they love for travel and their go-to brands!
And before you go be sure you check the weather report carefully so that you are packing things relevant to the weather you can expect as no two springs or summers are the same.
Alright, let’s get into it. Here’s your ultimate men’s London packing list for Spring and Summer.
There’s also a shoppable widget at the bottom of this post with loads more of curated picks to shop from.
1. A Stylish, Versatile Blazer
As you decide on a blazer, choose something that can handle a chill evening breeze but doesn’t overheat when the sun shows its face. I also like one that can go from day to night.
A navy or charcoal blazer is classic and works with nearly everything, from a crisp white shirt to your favorite tee.
Consider a knit blazer for something more casual.
If blazers aren’t your style, I think Rag & Bone always has some cool jacket choices.
2. Smart but Comfortable Footwear
Your feet are going to be doing a lot of work in London—whether you’re strolling along the Thames, exploring Notting Hill or dashing to catch the Tube. And because London has a lot of cobblestone mews and old streets, you’re going to want shoes you have broken in.
A good pair of sneakers is a must for exploring London, but make sure they’re stylish enough to wear to dinner or out for drinks if you don’t return to your hotel room before your evening plans.
Think minimalist white sneakers (they go with everything) or sleek leather loafers.
Consider packing away some of these blister life savers in case you need them!
3. Packable Rain Jacket
Let’s face it: it rains in London and at some point during your trip, it will be sure to rain. Be sure to pack a waterproof or a lightweight, packable rain jacket should be your secret weapon. I personally love the options that Barbour has for men. They are so handsome and timeless. We recommend a neutral color, so it works with all your outfits.
4. Lightweight Knitwear for Layering
Spring and summer in London can have a touch of a chill in the air, especially when the sun sets. This is where lightweight knitwear comes in. A classic merino wool sweater, cotton crewneck or knit polo can keep you cozy without being bulky. Throw it over a shirt or under a jacket. Opt for neutral shades (think grey, navy, or beige) for easy pairing.
I also love the knitwear that La Ligne makes for men and a slim cashmere hoodie that isn’t too hot can be perfect paired under a blazer for London in Spring style.
5. Versatile Pants for Every Occasion
For a city as cosmopolitan as London, you need trousers that can handle both a fancy dinner and an impromptu stroll through Hyde Park. A well-fitted pair of chinos or slim-fit trousers should be your go-to. You can dress them up with a blazer or keep it casual with a tee.
If you’re going for a more laid-back vibe, opt for dark denim jeans—just make sure they’re tailored to avoid looking too bulky when tucked into sneakers or worn with loafers.
6. Sunglasses
Londoners are known for their understated style—and the right pair of sunglasses can be the perfect accessory to add a bit of polish to your look. If you’re lucky enough for a sunny day in Londontown, you’ll want a pair. I love the pairs that Persol makes for men.
7. A Quality Weekender Bag
Consider a weekender bag as a personal item or additional carry on. Whether you’re headed to a nearby countryside retreat in The Cotswolds or just need a good bag to put things you bought in London in, a weekender – especially one that is packable is a good idea.
Consider this one from Everlane.
8. Travel Umbrella
Sure, you can “risk it” and try to avoid carrying an umbrella, but in London, it’s just better to be prepared. Choose a compact, sturdy umbrella that you can stash in your bag or your pocket. This is the one I always travel with.
9. Accessories
In a city like London, understated elegance is the name of the game. A few, well-chosen accessories can elevate your outfit without feeling overdone. Think a nice but not crazy expensive watch, sleek belts, and a simple chain or bracelet and some cheeky pairs of socks. For rainy days, you may want an understated ball cap.
10. A Tech-Friendly Backpack
Look for one with padded compartments for your tablet or laptop if you have to bring it on your trip. I like the look of this one from Everlane.
11. Work Jacket
The perfect layer for London in Spring and parts of summer. I love this one and the French brand Octobre has so many stylish options worth browsing. I often buy them for my brothers.
This overshirt is also perfect for travel as an added layer.
12. Linen
London never gets as hot as many other European destinations but hot summer days do happen in London and air-conditioning is not a given. Should your weather forecast call for 85+ degree days, you may want to consider packing some linen pieces like shirts or linen pants.
Consider linen pieces like a chic short sleeve linen shirt for extra hot days.
13. Button Downs
You can’t go wrong packing a button down to dress up or dress down while in London. I linked a lot of styles I liked in the widget below.

A really fun post. However, one point I’d make (living in the UK) is that like elsewhere now, London and outside the city (but particularly London) can get insanely hot due to Climate Change. So, to anyone travelling here I would say watch the weather forecast carefully before you come. Last summer it got into the 90s and be aware that there’s less air conditioning. Oh, and if you’re looking for a great upmarket meal, try the Ottolenghi restaurant, Nopi. Gorgeous!
Yes, we address this when we discuss linen in this post! Definitely varies every year!
