I am a shoe gal through and through and I invest in pairs of shoes in styles that are versatile and also hold up as I put my shoes through a lot living in New York and spending a lot of time in Paris. Shoes can truly make an outfit and as a New Yorker I put my shoes to work
But some shoes are very specific when it comes to styling and they aren’t very versatile for lots of outfits. So today I am sharing some of my shoes that I find extremely versatile. I hope you’ll find this post helpful as you build out a shoe collection you love.
Most Versatile Shoes
Building a collection of versatile shoes allows for effortless styling across various occasions.
Here are some of my top picks that have proven their worth time and again:
Most Versatile Women’s Shoes
White Sneakers
A pair of sleek white sneakers is indispensable. I’ve been wearing my Common Projects sneakers since 2018, pairing them with dresses, shorts, and jeans. Their slim design offers a chic look suitable for numerous outfits. Sizing can be tricky; I opted for a size 36, down from my usual 37.
Gucci Mule Loafers
These Gucci loafers are a staple in my wardrobe, effortlessly elevating any ensemble. They complement nearly all my favorite jeans and add a touch of sophistication to casual looks. I recommend sizing up; I chose a 37.5.
There’s also the pair with a back in a more traditional style.
Low Block Heel Sandals
For events and everyday wear, the Stuart Weitzman Nearly Nude sandals with a stacked heel are my go-to. I’ve worn them to numerous weddings and casual outings. Their comfort and perfect heel height make them a worthwhile investment. They sadly are a discontinued style but this pair by Sarah Flint is very similar.
Minimalist Sandals
These comfy ankle wrap sandals are so versatile to pair with dressed up or dressed down outfits.
Emme Parsons offers beautiful minimalist designs. I adore these croc-embossed sandals for their quality and versatility, seamlessly fitting into various outfits.
The Hermes Oran sandal are also the most effortless summer sandal to wear with everything. They are so versatile in my opinion.
Chanel Heeled Slingbacks
A few years ago, I treated myself to the Chanel slingbacks, and they have become a favorite. They elevate every outfit, from jeans to summer midi dresses, and their low, stacked heel provides comfort for busy days.
They are my most worn heels because of their versatility.
Chanel Ballet Flats
These Chanel ballet flats were another investment pair of shoes I thought about for a long time before I actually bought them in 2016. Ballet flats are such a timeless style of shoe and I dress them up and dress them down.
These flats are so comfortable, have the prettiest design that goes with so much and make any outfit look a bit more dressed up. I wear them with jeans, with shorts and with dresses.
I consider these a signature shoe for me and reach for them so often.
I also have a more affordable pair by Margaux that are equally versatile.
These Chanel shoes are the most versatile shoes for travel that I own so they are always in my suitcase.
Suede or Leather Pumps
One of the most comfortable pairs of heels I own = the Sarah Flint Perfect Pump. Expertly crafted with comfort in mind, the soles feel like little clouds which makes scooting around town easy, breezy in these. I also love that they come in three heel heights and multiple colors. I own them in a variety of colors!
Heeled Suede Booties
These booties were the best pair of shoes I bought in 2017 and remain a favorite many years later.
I can go for miles and miles without any issues with these little booties and I love styling them with both jeans as seen here or with dresses. I get compliments on them whenever I wear them and truly find myself reaching for them in Fall + Winter at least twice a week.
These Inez booties are another versatile pair I get lots of wear out of. They are so comfortable and I love the perfect neutral color of them.
What Shoes Go With Everything?
Of course this answer is very subjective. Everyone has personal style so your idea of what goes with everything may differ from mine.
That being said, I’m of the belief that when it comes to shoes that pair effortlessly with any outfit, neutral tones and classic designs are key.
White sneakers, neutral pumps and black ankle boots are versatile choices that complement a wide range of styles in my own personal closet.
Incorporating these versatile shoes into your wardrobe can simplify outfit planning and ensure you’re prepared for various occasions. Remember, investing in quality pairs pays off in the long run, offering both style and durability.
