I am so here for the return of polka dots. This playful pattern has previously made an appearance in an ensemble of mine this summer and here we have another.
If you’re a longtime reader of wit & whimsy you know I’m a huge fan of Everlane and almost everything they do. I think I have a 100% open-rate on their emails – ha! Their clothes + shoes are so my style and everything that comes into my wardrobe gets into heavy rotation (a lot of my favorites can be found here). When I saw this polka dotted silk shirt I knew it would be fun to style tied up like in today’s look and come Fall it’ll be so cute under a navy sweater. (The polka dot silk also comes in a super cute tank and a shirt dress that’s perfect for work!) More cute polka dotted pieces are linked below.
Last week when I was Upstate for the day I was saying how much I am ready for Fall. I know so many people worship summer but Fall is my time. Truly, one year my BFF texted me and told me to cool it on all my Foliage and pumpkin snaps – whoops! #sorryNotSorry :). I love dressing in Fall, I love living in the Northeast in the Fall (already plotting my return here) and I love all the cozy traditions that come with the season. Today’s outfit with this crisp silk button down has me craving that Fall air but given our heat wave in the 90s this week…I’ll have to just be patient I guess!
So tell me…are you more of a Summer gal or a Fall gal?
Everlane Silk Blouse (c/o; wearing a 6) // Jeans (on sale – I love these! TTS wearing a 28) // Celine Bag // Chanel Heels ( last seen here; similar more budget friendly options here, here)
More Cute Polka Dots:
p.s. the sweater blazer I’m in love with and another blouse + jeans look.
I’m with you, I’m 1000% a fall girl – I live in the South so fall brings so much nicer weather and the return of college football. I’m impatiently waiting for fall to get here and not doing a good job of it since I just bought a pumpkin candle a few days ago!
Yesssss!!! I feel like you’ve now given me permission to buy my favorite fall candle – the Apple Pumpkin one from yankee candle!
I feel the same way about fall – bring it on! I can’t wait for crisp fall air and cozy sweaters. In the mean time, however, that blouse is a lerfect transition piece. The polka dots look perfect on it. xAllie

So much yes to cozy sweaters and crisp air!! We’re on the same page!
Get me to fall!! I truly hate this disgusting weather week in New York. But there’s never ENOUGH fall for me – I feel like there are 5 or 6 perfect days, and then it’s straight into winter. Oh well. I prefer winter to this heat!
You’re so right, Annie! Fall is such a short yet sweet season in NYC! I wish it were longer but I always treasure those couple days in October and November!! Get us out of this heat!!
Totally a Fall gal, which isn’t great since I’m living in Los Angeles, makes me miss my years in D.C. every time it rolls around. Sidenote, you look so joyous in these photos it made me smile! Great look.

Aww but I’m jealous of your LA digs come January-March! And perhaps a good excuse to come to the Northeast for fun in the Fall? Thank you for the kind words, Leslie!!
