The Best of French Beauty

My love affair with France really knows no bounds and after my most recent trip to Paris, I came to the realization of just how many of my favorite beauty products hail from the French terroir.

As I mentioned in this post, French pharmacies are where it is at when it comes to beauty but thankfully for all of us that don’t live there, we can just as easily get the good stuff overseas nowadays.

From rich face masks to incredible body products, all of these are worth considering adding to your routine. Ils sont magnifiques!

Avène Micellar Lotion Cleanser and Make-Up Remover

A lip tint that doubles as a blush? We love that. A hair tie that’s also a funky bracelet? Always invited to our arm parties. In short, we’re big fans of the multitasking product, and this cleanser/toner/makeup-remover hybrid is definitely at the top of our must-have list. The unique 3-in-1 formula is based on a micelle principle that protects and releases cleansing agents and softening actives upon contact with the skin. It acts as a gentle no-rinse cleanser to eliminate impurities and any traces of makeup, while simultaneously offering toning benefits and hydrating your complexion.

Darphin Stimulskin Plus Multi-Corrective Divine Cream

This mask (although they call it a cream) is an investment no doubt but it is the definition of luxury TLC for your skin. It targets any signs of aging and feels like you’ve just had a facial after just ten minutes on the skin. It features Sea Emerald with Samphire extract and a peptide blend. What does that mean for your skin though? It will feel and look visibly younger and radiant after use. I apply the thick cream on my face with a brush and it feels like an at home spa treatment.

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse

I know some people are really hesitant to put oils on their skin, but I’m a big fan. This particular one is super luxurious and actually made of six essentials oils. It’ll hydrate skin but also give it the sexiest sheen – perfect for summer! I use it on the ends of my hair when they feel dry, too (gotta love a product that does double duty!) As with most oils, a little goes a long way. Just use a few drops. It’s not greasy so I like to put it on post-showering // pre-bedtime.

CODAGE Spring Break Serum

I had heard about CODAGE and sought it out in the Marais on my most recent trip and it was so worth the visit. I mentioned it in my favorite places to shop in Paris but the line is inspired by decoding everyone’s each unique skin needs. I picked up the special edition SPRING BREAK serum which is designed to restore comfort and brightness to lackluster skin which is just what my skin needs after traveling. It moisturizes, is packed with antioxidants and meant to reinforce your skins natural defenses against everyday toxins and pollution. It makes my skin feel so soft and hydrated. Not to mention the packaging is the most chic and you can buy the serums in two sizes – the smaller being perfectly portable.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir

I’ve written about this elixir before because it works wonders on many fronts. The toning mists will set your makeup, jive skin when it feels dull and also tighten up pores. I love using it on non-makeup days more than anything for its lightweight feel and soothing properties (it has rose oil in it.) Fun fact: this product is also great for men post-shaving!

Clarins Eye Revive

This product has been well documented on wit & whimsy because I use it every.single.morning. Before I put on any makeup, I always dab this on to reduce puffiness and prep the skin around my eyes for makeup while at the same time soothing it and making it look more awake. It also helps to fight dark circles and wrinkles #thankgod.

Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Sea Salt Scrub Shampoo

O-M-G this product. The sensory experience of using it is nothing like you’ve experienced. Call me crazy but I actually look forward to using it! It’s designed to cleanse but also rebalance sensitive or oily scalps. You can use it as a post-coloring treatment to relieve stinging or itching and also get rid of any chemical residue. I can’t properly explain the fizzy, effervescent exfoliating experience your scalp has when using this but it’s incredible. It feels like you’re putting a body scrub in your hair which is bizarre but once you get over that, after you use it your scalp with be soothed and hair totally shiny and clean. The combination of using this product followed by this deep conditioner leaves my hair so soft – I am truly obsessed!

Darphin Exquisâge Beauty Revealing Eye and Lip Contour Cream

Darphin is one of the most storied French skincare brands. In addition to the aforementioned mask, I have been using this eye and lip cream. I never thought to pay special attention to the skin around my lips before but it can be some of the first to show signs of aging so yours truly is now at attention. This cream boosts natural collagen production to it’ll enhance elasticity, firmness and smooth lines and wrinkles (I ain’t getting any younger…)
