Best Amazon Purchases 2020

Welcome to Look Back week on wit & whimsy! I’ll be sharing posts all week long featuring favorite discoveries and purchases of 2020. First up: my favorite Amazon purchases of the year. With in-store shopping limited much of 2020 and my shopping habits taking a turn to more items for home, for comfort and for time without social plans, I put my Amazon Prime membership to better use this year than ever before and found some great items I’ve been using and wearing regularly.

My Best Amazon Purchases of 2020

1.Amazon Essentials Puffer Coat

A packable and totally portable yet stylish puffer coat that won’t break the bank. I love the green color I got this in. I wear a TTS M but if you want a roomier fit I’d recommend going up a size.

2. Amazon Essentials Sherpa Fleece Zip Up

This fleece can’t be beat. It is so soft and cozy and perfect for all my neighborhood walks. It was one of the most sold items on wit & whimsy in 2020. I wear a TTS M but would recommend going up a size if you want a roomier fit.

3. Amazon Sherpa Pullover

In 2020, I was of the mind that the more sherpa the better. I had to have the pullover version of the Amazon Essentials sherpa zip up that I kept wearing so much. I wear a size M.

4. Core10 Spectrum High Waist Leggings

These are a great, more affordable alternative to my beloved Lululemon Align leggings. I sized down to a size Small.

5. Goodthreads Sweater

I did a lot of investigating of Amazon Fashion private label brands in 2020 and found some real wins including this sweater that I wore a lot during the Fall in a size M. See it on here.

6. Reebok HIIT Training Shoe

I had worn out my other sneakers I used for workouts so I snagged these during Amazon Prime Day and they are great.

7. Mighty Patch Micropoint Blemish Patches

When maskne plagued me after all the mask wearing by Springtime, I was searching for solutions and was excited that the maker of my favorite blemish patches had just released a Micropoint version that uses microneedles to get deep down and draw out blemishes that sit deep below the services. These work so well if you get deep, painful acne. I would use one of the Micropoint patches to get the pimple drawn to the surface and finish the job with an original mighty patch. This combo works. I am now always sure to have both kinds of patches on hand.

8. Tub O’ Towels Heavy Duty Cleaning Wipes

When Clorox and Lysol wipes had all but vanished from the city of New York by March, I bought these online to help clean my bathroom and other hard to clean surfaces. They work great! I also love that they are individually packed and therefore never dry out.

9. No Show Socks

No show socks are like hair ties in my house for some reason. I am always losing them so I can never have enough. These fit the bill for all my booties.

10. Fellow Electric Kettle

When I moved I needed a smaller kettle and this one was too pretty to pass up. But better than pretty? The features are great. I love that you can keep the water warm and easily set it to whatever temperature you prefer.

11. iPhone Stand

This is another item I can’t believe I waited so long to get. I used it so much during all the Zoom and Facetimes that 2020 featured. I also used it a lot for filming Instagram stories handsfree. I bought one for my Dad as part of his Christmas present and he loves it, too. A reader also told me she bought one for everyone in her family for Christmas and how much everyone said it was so great!

12. Wooden Coat Hangers

Not to be over dramatic but wooden coat hangers changed my life when the Neat Method recommended them this summer. I was always snapping thinner hangers and having to toss them so getting sturdier ones made my coat closet a lot more organized and better prepared.

13. Jump Rope

I finally got an actual jump rope for my BBG workouts (instead of jumping in place) and wow did it make a huge difference in getting my heart rate up. I hadn’t used one in years! So it took some practice but this rope was affordable and is super light so easy to transport.

14. Lemon Lime Squeezer

All my cocktail making in 2020 busted my cheap squeezer so I bought this top rated one from Amazon and love that it has separate sized compartments for both lemons and limes. It has stood up to lots of use and can be thrown in the dishwasher. Win/Win.

15. Ear Plugs for Sleeping

These revolutionized my sleep this year when it was hard to come by due to stress and noisy neighbors. They work better than any other ear plug I’ve ever tried.

16. Package Opener

Why oh why did I wait so long to buy something that makes package opening less of a hassle!? I can’t believe I spent so many years using scissors to battle tape. This handy opener that is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and therefore takes up little to no space features a ceramic blade that opens packages quickly and safely. It ended up being one of my most used products of all of 2020.

. . .

Did you have a favorite Amazon discovery last year? I’d love to hear what it is!

p.s. some gifts for yourself this year and cold weather picks from Amazon Fashion.

  1. Lauren says:

I did waaaaay too much shopping on Amazon in 2020 thanks to COVID. (Like, it’d be embarrassing to learn how much money I spent on Amazon buys.) One of my favorite purchases has to be Mighty Handles. It’s such a simple invention, but it really makes it so much easier to carry heavy plastic bags without cutting off the circulation in your fingers – definitely a must if you live in a large city and don’t have a car!

    • Meghan says:

Oh my gosh I just looked this up – BRILLIANT! I actually cut off circulation to a finger last year after holding a bag for too long! Took days for it to come back to normal so I am adding these to my cart pronto! Thanks so much for the tip!!

  2. Katie says:

You turned me onto Mighty Patch earlier this year, and my face thanks you. 🙂

  3. Melanie says:

So glad you love those earplugs too, they were a life saver when we lived in a condo with shared walls! Also I bought that package opener and love it… I was always using scissors before which is a lot more risky. Thanks for saving my fingers! I

  4. Jackie says:

I was shocked at how different it felt when I actually started using a jump rope versus jumping in place haha!! Stopped BBG in the fall but plan on starting fresh again Monday!
