French Girl Closet Staples – The Versatile Sweater

Sezane Gaspard Sweater I wit & whimsy

With the arrival of October today, we’re officially in sweater weather! I personally love a French Girl Closet Staple that works overtime and this versatile cardigan is just that. Wear it frontwards, backwards, with jeans, with skirts, over dresses, with black pants…this cardigan can do a lot which is why it is this week’s spotlight in my French Girl Closet Staples series.

French Girl Closet Staples – The Versatile Sweater

This Gaspard jumper by Sezane is a timeless knit that you can wear all year. With it’s soft fabric and mother of pearl buttons, I love that you can wear it a multitude of ways and always look effortlessly stylish. I first bought the black in 2017 and wore it so much that this year I added the Camel to my closet as well.

And here’s how I’ve styled my Black Gaspard sweater in the past:

I personally can’t wear the more pale colors of this sweater given I have a larger chest and the weave is a bit open. But the darker, warmer colors I absolutely love. I think the red would be gorgeous for the holidays as well!

I initially bought this sweater in the Medium years ago. But I didn’t love how oversized it was for this particular style. I like the fit of the size Small so that I can wear it with both skirts/dresses and pants. If you only plan to wear it with jeans you may want to take your usual size vs. sizing down so that it has a baggier fit which could look very chic.

Because of how much I wear it, I instantly bought this new, similar style they released because I couldn’t resist the ruffle sleeve detail. I got the color Mole in size Small and am in love!
