Happy September! Fall is nearly here and I am even more ready for it than usual this year. It’s most likely because this summer hasn’t been as carefree or travel-filled as past years but I also just much prefer Fall to summer. Fall is my absolute favorite time of year for so many reasons but it is also my favorite season to get dressed. My recent move had me cleaning out and refining my wardrobe but it also had me discovering so many clothes I can’t wait to wear as soon as the temperatures start to feel a bit more crisp. I rounded up some of the pieces to share with you today – many of which I’ve owned for years and stand the test of time year over year.
Long time readers will recognize a lot of these pieces and already know that I truly believe in making investments in your wardrobe for classic pieces that you know will be in style for years to come. In a time where we are all shopping less, I think key investment pieces can be far more rewarding than buying a lot of things you may discard by the time next Fall arrives.
Fall Clothes I Can’t Wait to Wear:
This & Other Stories sweater (size down – I’m wearing a Small – so glad they brought this back for the third year! It has sold out multiple times last two years!) It’s the coziest and perfect when paired with leggings.
These beloved Levi’s jeans. Wearing a size 28. More about them here. And also this button down which remains one of the best classics in my wardrobe. I’ve tried a lot of button downs and this is the best ever. I’m wearing a size 40 and may invest in another color this Fall.
These Inez Boots. They are so comfortable!
This little mini Gucci bag. It is one of my Fall & Winter favorites. It doesn’t fit much – just my phone, credit card and keys but it makes the perfect teeny companion to a lot of my outfits and ensures I let my doesn’t-show-up-often minimalism shine.
This Fleece Sweatshirt (size M) and these Lululemon Align joggers (size 6) were two of my best quarantine buys. So comfy that I practically lived in both during cooler months earlier this year. I know I’ll be reaching for them a lot come Fall.
This Madewell Utility Jacket that’s the perfect casual jacket. It’s a weekend staple for me. Wearing a M.
This puff sleeve cashmere sweater – it was one of my most worn pieces through Fall & Winter! Wearing a M.
I bought this H&M dress (size M) the moment I saw it as I knew it would look so good with a leather jacket and heeled booties come Fall & Winter.
My Vince leather jacket. I bought it back in 2014 and it is still one of my most worn items that I own. It is the most buttery, soft leather and I love the fit so much. Faux, affordable similar styles here and here.
These Stuart Weitzman boots (still one of my best investments) and my favorite cashmere sweater (size M) I’ve had and worn on repeat for the past six years. This Everlane cashmere crew is a good affordable alternative to the Equipment sweater but I don’t say this lightly – the Equipment one is worth the splurge. It’s a classic style and the quality is so good. For me to still be wearing something so regularly for six years running may be a record!
Another good cashmere option – also an investment – is this White + Warren Essential Cashmere Sweater that comes in several classic colors like the camel I’m wearing. I love this sweater. It’s great alone but also ideal as a layering piece. The quality meets my standards. More cashmere picks of mine here. I’m wearing it with the Amour Vert Joggers which have been MVPs of mine in 2020. They are ribbed making them stylish yet soft enough for lounging. I’m wearing a M but also probably could have done a S. They now come in gray + navy, too. These were one of my most sold items in the first quarter of 2020!
My Golden Goose sneakers are a year-round wear for me (and even more this year!) but they are definitely Fall favorites when paired with jeans and a good blazer. I also love wearing them with my joggers.
If I had a $1 for every time my girlfriends and I have discussed how amazing the Vuori joggers were this year, I’d be rich. We are obsessed. They are so soft, so comfy and manage to be stylish enough for both outdoor and indoor wear. I sized down to a Size Small.
The J.Crew Regent Blazer is just so.damn. good. My blazers will be getting less wear this year but I still plan to work them into outfits at every chance I can. They are actually perfect for Zoom calls this Fall I think! I wear a size 6.
I wear my white jeans well past Labor Day because I love an all white Fall & Winter look. These Velvet Twiggy jeans are a favorite pair of white denim – so much so that I just bought the style in a blue jean, too! Wearing size 28.
This Everlane blazer that I now own in every color way (see below!) I size down to a size 2.
I also can’t wait to wear these Everlane Boss Boots. They are so comfortable (put to the test with 25,000 steps in Paris last November!) They run TTS. You’ll get loads of wear out of these.
This classic Sezane striped tee. Wearing a M. Also comes in Navy!
These velvet Spanx leggings. They are such a luxe way to level up leggings and look great with oversized sweaters. Wearing size Small.
This Everlane Cashmere Tee. It’s a layering favorite. Wearing a M. (It now comes in loads of colors, too!)
These perfect + comfy cognac boots by Margaux.
This perfect “jardigan” that has one of the best fits of anything I own. An investment piece that wears well both closed or open. Wearing a M.
And this Barbour, too. Wearing a US 8.
My beloved Sezane Gaspard sweater. I wear it both frontwards and backwards. Wearing size Small.
My favorite ever sneakers. These are my most worn shoes year round!
My beloved Agolde Toni jeans. Wearing size 27. The best ankle crop jeans to pair with booties.
This oversized blazer that doubles as a jacket on crisp Fall days. Wearing a 4.
This puff sleeve sweatshirt I loved so much in ivory that I also bought it in Black (size M).
This puff sleeve sweater that was a favorite buy of mine (size M) + they just restocked it! Also my beloved Sarah Flint Natalie flats! You can get $50 off your first pair of Sarah Flint shoes with code MEGHAN50.
