You know those pieces of clothing that just make you happy as soon as you spot them? That was this Kate Spade dress for me. Covered in the happiest daisies it instantly puts me in a happy mood when I pop it on.
Truth be told, getting dressed more often for social plans has been bringing me such joy. It’s been nice to wear so much more of my closet lately and to break out shoes that haven’t seen the light of day in two summers!
I’ve also been living for hugs with friends lately. And breakfast meetings again. And summer nights spent out late enough to watch the sun go down. The return of rose season. And wearing perfume again! The return of travel! Summer plans filled with less anxiety. Feeling more ready to explore. To see what’s bringing life back to New York City as new restaurants begin to open and outdoor dining continues to reign supreme.
But the hugs- that’s really the one that’s been making me emotional lately. The ability to hug friends upon seeing them for plans – I missed it so, so much last year. I’ll never forget the stamps plastered across Brooklyn last spring & summer that said “Damn, I Miss Hugs”. Truer words had never been spoken and I won’t soon forget how good it feels to once again hug friends and family – vaccinated person to vaccinated person. Each time I do so, I savor it and I say a silent thank you to science and everyone working on the vaccines and getting more people around the globe vaccinated. I really, really missed hugs.
