Best Beauty Discoveries of 2019

January 15, 2020

Throughout each year I try and buy a lot of beauty products and enjoy sharing my reviews with you guys.  At the end of each year I go back through everything I’ve tried and pull out the true stand-outs. The products I will continue to buy and use regularly and the ones I think are 100% worth their price-tags. Today I am excited to share all the best beauty discoveries I had in 2019.

  1. Nexxus Volumizing shampoo and Conditioner: It is on my list this year to find a clean shampoo and conditioner I like but until then, I’m using this affordable line that makes my hair so soft and gives a boost of volume.
  2. Klorane Dry Shampoo: My favorite dry shampoo that is one of the most popular items at French drugstores. I first wrote about it here.
  3. Alterna Volumizing Mousse: 2019 was the year mousse came back into my life and I am forever grateful for the volume it gives to my roots.
  4. Color Wow Dream Coat: Hair frizz be gone! I bought this after seeing so much press around it (Kim Kardashian’s stylist apparently swears by it for getting Kim’s super sleek looks) and it totally helped tame my hair in NYC’s humid summer months. I wrote about it here.
  5. Olive & June Cuticle Serum: If you suffer from dry cuticles like me you will thank me for this discovery. It instantly transforms nails without leaving them oil-y like many other cuticle products. It is also perfectly portable for travel.
  6. Artis Brush: I finally tried Artis brushes this year and I love how easy they make to apply foundation. I first wrote about it here.
  7. Youth to the People Dream Mask: This over night mask is a great remedy when your skin is thirsty.
  8. Supergoop Zinc Screen: I can’t tell you how many sunscreens I tried out after given strict guidance from my dermatologist about needing to use SPFs with zinc or titanium dioxide only moving forward following my skin cancer. This one rose to the top for face sunscreens immediately because, unlike most zinc sunscreens, it doesn’t leave a white cast. It has the most subtle tint that ensures it goes on easily and can handle makeup being applied after. It checked all the boxes I was looking for out of a physical sunscreen for my face.
  9. Caudalie Detox Mask: I was reminded last year at how good this mask is when your pores need some unclogging. I particularly like it post-travel.
  10. Necessaire Body Wash: This Eucalyptus body wash came into my life and I actually started looking forward to using it – it is that good. I wrote about it first here. I also really like their body moisturizer (and I hate most body lotions!)
  11. Seaweed Bath Company Body Scrub: I’ve been a longtime fan of this brand’s body wash but am newly hooked on their affordable and clean minty-fresh body scrub.
  12. Caudalie SOS Cream: My love for this nighttime moisturizer knows no bounds. It completely brought my skin back to life last Winter and I’ve been hooked ever since.
  13. Mighty Patch Pimple Patches: When I was going through a major rough patch of chin breakouts, these were my saviors. They are wildly satisfying to use and really, really work. I first wrote about them here.
  14. Ilia Lipstick: A great clean lipstick option. Good staying power and good color payoff.
  15. Wander Beauty Hidden Glow Cream: This cream is so divine. I love using it as a primer to give a lit-from-within glow before I apply tinted moisturizer or my  BB Creme. I wrote about it here.
  16. Erborian BB Creme: This was my #1 beauty discovery in 2019. I always get compliments on my skin when I wear it, it is a dream to apply, it gives instant glow and the prettiest coverage…I could go on and on. I love it so much I did a whole post dedicated to it. You guys also told me how much you love it ever since I started talking about it.
  17. Ere Perez Bronzer: Hands down this is one of my best clean beauty discoveries ever since the team at Follain helped me find it as a clean swap to my beloved Benefit Dallas blush/bronzer. It wears gorgeously and adds the loveliest, healthy-looking hint of color.
  18. Ilia Mascara: This is the best clean mascara I’ve found so far in my hunt to swap cleaner products into my routine. I very much understand why it has a cult like following and has won so many awards.
  19. RMS Pressed Powder Blush in Lost Angel: Clean powder blushes are hard to come by and I am so pleased with this one. It is a great clean dupe for NARS Orgasm.

Absolutely love that Klorane dry shampoo – Holy Grail status! – and the Mighty Patches – cleared a zit up overnight last week! I need to make an order with Olive & June and include that cuticle serum; I love the nail polish you sent me!!

Going to have to try those pimple patches- more affordable than the Peace Out ones sold at Sephora.
