I think Kjaer Weis is one of the best and most innovative makeup brands I have tried in recent memory. I’ve been using a handful of their products for several years and in anticipation of this post I bought a few more SKUs to test out.
As you’re likely aware by now, I prefer to wear more clean makeup brands and largely stay away from more traditional, often more toxic brands. As brands evolve more, sustainability is also increasingly important as we look to better protect our environment and Kjaer Weis is definitely one of the best brands when it comes to prioritizing refillable products.
The brand was founded by Danish-born makeup artist Kirsten Kjaer Weis while she was based in New York City. Her vision was to bring together a minimalist Scandinavian aesthetic with the energy and spirit of NYC. Kjaer Weis is aiming to lead the beauty movement with high performance, luxury makeup that is organic and sustainable. The line is full of certified organic formulas and completely refillable which I find pretty incredible (and rare!)
I like that they focus on super versatile and universally flattering products. I do hope they’ll expand on shade range for a variety of products soon, too.
I first discovered the brand through Credo Beauty and it was the Highlighter and Cream Bronzer that I first fell for but now my collection has grown to include a variety of the brand’s makeup and select skincare SKUs as well. There have been some misses though for me as well.
Kjaer Weis Beauty Review
This is the brand’s newest mascara launch and my favorite of theirs to date as I didn’t like their earlier mascaras when I tried them. It gives volume, definition and lift and when you apply several coats you’ll get a decent dramatic, fluffy lash. It has sustainably sourced beeswax, carnauba wax and acacia gum in the formula so you’ll avoid clumps and get hold.
They also added raspberry fruit water, sunflower seed oil and marula oil so your lashes are nourished and protected while you wear the mascara. And, the inner tube of the mascara is made up of 50% PCR while being housed in a recyclable aluminum outer case.
Tip: The brush is dual-sided so there is one curved side for buildable volume and then a flat side for length and definition.
I really love these cream blushes – they’re a favorite of mine for sure. It’s a buildable formula and rather hydrating so it nourishes skin while on your cheeks.
Available in 13 shades. I have shades Sun Touched and Blossoming.
I usually like matte lipsticks but this formula seemed to seep into every line on my lips and barely give a good color payoff. I wouldn’t recommend these.
I almost always bring this when I travel because the neutrals are perfect for doing a whole eye and the compact is so perfectly sleek for on the go. It’s definitely not the best shadow I’ve ever used but it is great for travel.
I hope they’ll release more shade quads soon.
I didn’t find this worked as well at keeping my shine at bay as the Ilia Setting Powder. And the compact is so small it takes quite a bit of work to apply it.
If you like the Ilia Skin Tint Serum but want a touch more coverage, I’d recommend this foundation. It has a similar serum finish and is meant to make skin luminous. It has a lot of organic oils in it so skin feels nourished while you get light to medium coverage with a natural glow.
Available in 24 shades. I wear shade Whisper.
I do wish they’d improve the stopper on the bottle as it is rather difficult to get a decent amount of product out of it.
I really like the brand’s lipstick as it has a great color payoff and I found it rather hydrating as well. It has a creamy, velvety matte finish and has shea butter and jojoba oil so lips stay smooth and it feels a bit like lip care.
My favorite Kjaer Weis product this cream glow is just the best. Like a smooth, silky balm this applies so beautifully and gives the most gorgeous slow to the skin. You can use it on your cheeks, nose, brow line or even your décolleté.
I have shade Radiance.
A rich and luxurious eye balm that nourishes the fine skin around your eyes. I prefer to apply it at night vs. under makeup.
This concealer didn’t work for me. It was too lightweight for my more oil prone skin so I found it didn’t cover well. I prefer these concealers.
This is next on my list to try so I can’t yet provide a review but it does boast a lot of rave reviews so I’m excited to try it.
It features Dioscorea Batatas, a bright white root with small white flowers and a subtle fragrance of cinnamon. It also has a blend of wild rose, sweet almond seed, olive and jojoba seed oils.
It is in my queue for testing and I’ll be sure to update this post once I’ve had the chance to do so.
I adore this cream bronzer. Super blendable and oh-so-glowy it makes you look like you summered in the South of France.
I have shade Dazzling.
