Lip Colors for Spring and Summer

Lip Colors for Spring and Summer

I have a somewhat embarrassing large collection of lip products. From lip liners and lip balms to lip oils and lipsticks. I love trying new formulas and cocktailing lip colors together as well. There have been so many good and innovative lip launches in recent years – particularly in formulas that I love wearing in warm weather.

When it begins to get hot out I steer clear of matte liquid lipsticks and heavier formulas overall. Instead I reach for all my favorite glosses and balms. Following the popularity of my Best Lipstick Shades for Fall post, today I am sharing all my favorite lip products for spring and summer inclusive of the shades I use.

Lip Colors for Spring and Summer

I am super picky about lip colors and generally in summer I want to only wear beige-pink shades. I love how they pair with my freckles! And I also want formulas that aren’t sticky, flaky and are going to not require constant re-application.

If you’ve bought any of the below at my recommendation in the past – I’d love to hear about it in the Comments below!

Hourglass Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm

I adore just how damn shiny these make your lips look! These vegan and cruelty free balms visibly plumps your lips while delivering full-bodied color with a dewy, high-shine finish. I have shades Slip and Mist.

Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss

This non-sticky, ultralight lip gloss that leaves lips visibly smooth and plumped and perfectly shiny has been a wit & whimsy bestseller for years now. I love the dual-sided applicator that makes application super precise and I love that this formula has coconut oil, peptides and vitamin E so your lips feel crazy hydrated.

Shades 716 and 722 are year-round favorites of mine and layer really well atop balms and lipsticks.

Guerlain KissKiss Bee Glow Lipstick Balm

I first learned about this product from a French makeup artist I follow so I purchased it in one of the brand’s boutiques on a recent trip to Paris. This is a creamy, tinted lip balm infused with the brand’s signature honey. It uses 98 percent natural-origin ingredients and leaves lips feel super hydrated. I love the pretty, super-natural daytime finish it leaves on the lips.

I have shade Honey Glow.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine Lipstick Balm

Super healthy looking lips in a weightless balm with the prettiest sheer wash of color. TikTok didn’t lead me astray in this one! I’d say skip it though if you don’t like fragrance as it has a somewhat annoying peach scent. It dissipates after a few minutes thankfully however!

There are loads of shades to choose from – 09 and 15 are my go-tos

Summer Lip Colors

Gucci Glow & Care Shine Lipstick

This lipstick has the prettiest luminous glowing finish and a super long-lasting shine. It’s kind of in between a lip sheer and a satin lipstick making it my ideal summertime lipstick formula.

I have shade Sally Soft Honey – shown wearing it above. It’s my ideal pinky-nude lightweight lipstick.

Dior Addict Lip Glow

If you’re someone who doesn’t love wearing lip color but wants healthy looking lips – this is the product for you.

I wear shade 01.

Charlotte Tillbury Pillow Talk Lipstick

This is my ideal pink-nude go-to lipstick. I wear it year round but even more in spring and summer. I pair it with the Pillow Talk Lip Liner and often love to either add the Chanel Rouge Coco Gloss over that combo or the Pillow Talk Collagen Lip Bath Gloss.

Westman Atelier Squeaky Clean Lip Balm

Westman Atelier Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Hydrating Lip Balm

I love this juicy lip balm so much I own every shade! Part tinted lip balm, part gloss, these clean lip colors cushion lips with weightless nourishment to hydrate and protect while giving super subtle yet pretty washes of color.

Tower 28 Beauty JuiceBalm Vegan Tinted Lip Balm

This glides on like a dream! The formula is buttery smooth, vegan and gives a great, easy and super wearable sheer yet impactful wash of color.

I have shade Mix.

Makeup by Mario MositureGlow Lip Plumping Serums

I adore how this product melts onto your lips. It plumps, it adds shine and it makes lips look super kissable. I loved the shade Bare Glow I bought first that I essentially instantly bought additional shades – Mauve Glow and Blush Glow.

Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump

If you love a plumped lip effect, look no further than this product. I’ve managed to go through two full tubes in record time with shade Primrose being the one I repurchase.

Kosas Wet Lip Oil Plumping Treatment Gloss

A hybrid lip treatment and gloss packed with peptides that visibly plumps and hydrates, all while providing a juicy slick of color.

Shades Dip and Jellyfish are my favorites.

Merit Signature Lip Lipstick

If you’re a lipstick stan, this is a great matte-statin lipstick that goes on effortlessly. Thanks to the pretty sheer finish you don’t get the heaviness of a traditional lipstick which makes this lipstick perfect for warmer temps.

It has hydrating ingredients like squalane and sunflower seed oil so lips feel cushioned and not try. I think the light finish is the best part of this lipstick.

Available in eight shades with Millenial and Baby being my personal favorites.

Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil

Part lip oil, part stain, part lip gloss you can slick this sheer color on every day and your lips will look more healthy thanks to the formula’s rosehip oil and shea butter.

It comes in a variety of shades and two finishes: The Classics which are hint of buildable, saturated color and The Gelées which are sheer, cushioned formulas for a bare-lip finish.

I own Pink Beet which is a great every day cool pink color and I really love it layered over the Merit Signature Lip Lipstick in Shade Baby.

It would be so helpful to see the colors on you…i have similar coloring/hair color and curious about the depth etc of the lipstick colors. Thanks.

Hi Nancy – given the light tones and sheerness of many of them – it wouldn’t be easy to see nuances when captured on camera which is why I didn’t do so!
