It’s hard to believe Thanksgiving is just a few short weeks away now that we’ve entered November! I always think of Thanksgiving as the official start to the holiday season – when we begin gathering and celebrating and getting extra time with loved ones. It’s a great marker in the year to recognize all we have to be grateful for and nothing beats being with friends and family over a delicious spread of food and cocktails.
Of course part of the Thanksgiving fun is also deciding what to wear! Whether you dress up for your Thanksgiving or you keep it more casual (and comfy!), today’s post has a variety of outfits to inspire your Thanksgiving look this year however you’re celebrating!
Thanksgiving Outfits For Women
Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post where I have rounded up loads of pieces you can shop now to replicate the Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas shared here.
Mini Skirt with Riding Boots
I love a classic riding boot and think they look so chic paired with tights and an A-line mini skirt. This feels like a dressy but still casual Thanksgiving outfit.
Tweed Jacket with Jeans
Fall weather means it’s time for tweed! Tweed and lady jackets are a fall wardrobe staple for me, and I think they’re a great option for Thanksgiving. I love an elegant tweed jacket paired with jeans. My red jacket is Veronica Beard from last year, but this is a similar option.
Tailored Trousers
I think trousers are a great alternative to jeans on Thanksgiving if you want to look polished but still be comfy. I size up in these viral Abercrombie trousers, paired with this super versatile COS cashmere sweater.
Cropped Jeans and a Sweater
Cropped jeans and a simple sweater are a timeless formula for me. Simple, elegant, and perfect for a low key day spent with family or friends. These Paige jeans are fast becoming a favorite in my denim collection, paired with this sweater from La Ligne and these chic heels.
Plaid Blazer with Jeans
My uniform this time of year is a plaid blazer layered over a cashmere sweater and jeans with a feminine flat. I’m also a big fan of this oversized style from Everlane. It’s a casual-cool look for Thanksgiving and likely can be replicated without buying anything new for your closet. If you’re looking for a different silhouette, I recently added this plaid lady jacket to my wardrobe and it’s darling!
Monochrome Outfit
Now I’m not suggesting you go to a holiday focused on eating in all white – maybe try camel? But a monochrome look is an easy way to look chic without a lot of thought. I reach for this cream colored jacket all year long, it’s that versatile!
Printed Skirt
Ideal for dressier occasions, a festive plaid midi skirt could easily pair with a suede boot or (if you live in a warmer climate) a pump or a heeled sandal.
Cozy and Casual Sweater Coat
Sweater coats are just the best and a perfect topper if you plan to spend a large part of your Thanksgiving lounging!
Oversized Cashmere Sweater
For when you need to undo your top button on your pants, an oversized cashmere sweater is just the ticket to allow you to do so! Wearing the La Ligne Marin Sweater above.
Black Trousers
A versatile, well fitting pair of black trousers is an easy way to feel dressed up without much thought necessary. I like to pair mine with a cropped jacket for a chic, ladylike look. This is another pair I reach for quite often!
Oversized Wool Coat
If the weather has already turned chilly where you are, this voluminous belted coat from & Other Stories is a Fall and Winter MVP for me! Be warned, it does run quite large.
Comfy Joggers
If you’re opting for a fully casual Thanksgiving, you need these oh so cozy Vuori joggers in your life! I also highly recommend packing these to change into after Thanksgiving dinner if you’re traveling.
Mini Skirt with Booties
A tweed mini skirt paired with tights and a sock bootie is a favorite Fall look of mine and a perfect Thanksgiving outfit when you and yours dress up a bit more for the holiday.
Wrap Cardigan and Black Pants
I love a belted wrap cardigan for hiding my Thanksgiving sins. This one is made from stretchy, forgiving fabric. Pair it with black jeans or black pants and a feminine flat.
Little Black Dress
For a dressier occasion, you can’t go wrong with a little black dress. This Rhode midi dress is so elegant and flattering — I had to get it in the longer sleeve version as well!
Buttoned-Up Cardigan
I love the look of a cozy cardigan buttoned up to wear as a top. This one went viral on Instagram, and for good reason! I love the chic silhouette and oversized cuffs.
Sweater Dress with Booties
A midi sweater dress will no doubt be comfortable enough all Thanksgiving day. There are countless ways to style a sweater dress; pair it with a pair of riding boots to dress it up, or sneakers if you’re going more casual.
Maxi Dress with Heeled Booties
If you plan to go all out with your Thanksgiving outfit, I recommend doing a maxi dress paired with heeled booties. To add a bit of a cool factor, you can top the dress with a leather jacket.
Lace Top and Slingbacks
I think a delicate lace top makes for the perfect Thanksgiving shirt if you’re going more casual; Sezane makes some my favorite ones! It’s slightly dressy, but still can be paired with jeans and a fun shoe like a slingback that’s comfy
Striped Sweater
Stripes are never a wrong choice in my book! Wearing one of my favorites from La Ligne, paired with these Inez booties that are both stylish and super comfortable. You can use code WHIMSY15 for 15% off your purchase of Inez shoes!
Knee High Boots
I love a comfy, cozy sweater dress for the cooler November weather. I like to pair mine with over the knee boots or knee high boots. And you could also belt it if you wanted. I think this is a super versatile belt.
Floral Midi Dress and Boots
I love Fall florals and a midi dress with tall leather boots is a great option for a dressier Thanksgiving gathering. Longer dresses are also great for not having to worry about crossing your legs under the dinner table or sitting around before or after the meal.
Slip Dress and Leather Jacket
A easy one and done outfit! Don a slip dress with a leather jacket or even a little cropped lady jacket!
Slip Skirt and Cashmere Sweater
Similar to the slip dress outfit but with a nice elastic waist band. I like to pair my slip skirts with cozy cashmere sweaters come November and tall boots. Perfect for a polished Thanksgiving look.
