The Best Cardigan for Travel (Ever)

Weekend Ensemble I wit & whimsy

Oh man, you guys, was I laughing putting this post together. The day these photos were taken (Sunday), it looked beautiful outside. But I awoke to the wind howling and knew that Bekka and I were in for a treat. I didn’t bother doing my hair but rather threw it up and let’s just say…the wind was so strong this particular day that my topknot damn near got blown off the top of my head! Most photos it is veered off to the side so much so that I was in hysterics looking at the photos from this shoot.

Alas, most photos were rendered unusable but here’s the outfit nevertheless. Just ignore my hair will ya? HA! (The glamorous life & times of taking photos of yourself in public and putting them on the internet Part 1,654…)

Anyhow onto this outfit. THIS CARDIGAN. It was made to be lived in. Traveled in. Lounged in. It is so soft + cozy and comes in 3 colors. Not to mention it finally satisfied the “boyfriend cardigan” slot my wardrobe had yet to have filled (albeit a bit late in the season…) It runs rather large so while I am a Medium in Madewell typically I bought it in an XS. I can’t wait to wear it on practically every flight moving forward. It’s so lightweight that it is ideal for travel.

And paired it with my favorite tee in color #2 that I got because I liked the navy I had so much. Striped tees can be hard for me because sometimes the fabric stretches funny across my chest or the stripes hit at a weird spot but this one is a heavier weight and I love the quality of it (not to mention you can get it for 25% off right now during Shopbop’s Friends & Family sale!) It’s higher priced than you’d find a striped tee at say a Zara or an H&M no doubt, but I love the fit of it which makes it worth the spend for me. Next up I’ll be paring it with white jeans for France.

Speaking of France, I leave in a month! I’ll be spending two weeks over there and have started the mental packing process (been sharing sneak peeks on Snapchat in case you’re interested @meghandono.) I did end up buying this dress for the wedding I am attending (it is marked down to $75 for TODAY ONLY!) and I still need to sort out a few other outfits for other occasions I have while I’ll be over there but alors, I am so excited.

I hope you are having a great week! Mine has been a very busy one (I’ll share more details in Friday’s roundup) and I’m *hoping* to be able to finalize the results / findings of my recent reader survey to share tomorrow so stay tuned!

  1. I LOVE this dress and am thinking about also ordering for an upcoming wedding. Does it run true to size? I am normally a 6 (2/4 in Jcrew) but my last memory of Ann Taylor is it runs very big. Thanks!!

    1. Hi Christina! It does run big – I found that about AT, also. I am almost always a size 6 but I bought this one in a size 4 and love the fit of it. Hope this helps & let me know if you end up getting it!

  2. Meghan you’re funny and your hair looks cute! Also, thanks for the heads up about M Gemi, I got those same shoes you are wearing a while back and I LOVE them!

    1. Haha you are so kind! You should have seen the photos I couldn’t post- ha! SO glad you discovered M. Gemi and love it! The lace ups are so great!!
