Autumn in Paris is one of my favorite times to visit – particularly in October. It can be moody and rainy or it can be late summer weather with plenty of sunshine. But no matter the weather you get – you’re in Paris during one of my favorite months and it’s lovely.
As the founder of En Route to Rêverie my fall packing lists for Paris are rather formulaic at this point – full of thoughtful staples that easily translate from day activities to nights out on the town when visiting Paris during the fall season.
Read on to see what’s in my suitcase and how I pack for Fall trips to Paris.
October is such a lovely time of year to travel to Paris. The average temperature is in the 60s often and visiting the city of light during the start of Fall…there is something magical about it. While I love visiting Paris any time of year, there’s something about October that makes it one of my favorite times to visit Paris.
When it comes to a Paris Packing List, I always look to how I think Parisian women may be dressing and allow that to influence some of my own personal style. The city of lights is full of eclectic style but there are a lot of classic pieces you’ll see French women wear when it comes to French Wardrobe Staples For Fall.
As you pack your suitcase, be sure to think about your day to day and what you’ll be doing and how your outfits can be mixed and matched.

Paris in October Packing List
1. Trench Coat
A timeless trench will always be a good investment. I like to layer mine over my leather jacket when I am in Paris to handle the unpredictable weather in the Fall but I wear my trench styles all the time in New York as well. Both in Spring and in Fall.
This style is classic from J.Crew as is this one from Sezane both of which I own (I’m wearing the Sezane one above in a size 6).
If you’re on the taller size and like a bit more masculine cute, this one I just got from Sezane is also very cool and on trend. I sized down to a 4.

2. Striped tee
Breton striped tees are oh-so-French. I will never tire of striped tees as a base layer. I wear them solo or under blazers and tweed jackets. You can’t go wrong with a striped tee topped with a blazer and paired with a classic loafer.
For a more comfy striped tee, go for this one. I sized up to a L.
3. Cashmere Layering Tee
This cashmere layering tee has a great weight to it and works well under blazers and jackets. I size up to a L in it.
4. Quality T-Shirt
Having a great, quality t-shirt in black and white that you feel good in is a closet must-have and I never travel to Paris without my favorites.
This one has washed so well for me for years. I love the slightly longer sleeves and the thick, plush cotton its made of.
5. Leather Jacket
Fall in Paris is quintessential leather jacket weather. On cooler days I’ll layer mine under my trench coat.
6. Umbrella
Fall in Paris means rain not if but when. This travel umbrella is the perfect size and opens and closes with ease. I’ve been bringing it to Paris for several years now and it’s held up so well.

7. Common Projects Achilles Sneakers
After four years of non-stop wear, it was finally time for a new pair of my all-time favorite sneakers. I sized down to size 36. For a more affordable sneaker style, I recommend the Veja Esplar Sneakers (a few sizes are also available at Shopbop).
8. Sarah Flint Natalie Flats
I never go to Paris without a classic ballet flat and this feminine and oh-so-comfortable pair is my favorite. You can use code SF-MEGHAN for 15% off your Sarah FLint purchase.
The Margaux Demi Ballet Flats are another favorite pair.
9. Loafers
A timeless staple perfect for clocking a lot of miles walking around the streets of Paris.

This LaLigne sweater I own in four colors now in particular. It is my most worn striped sweater and great for styling versatility when traveling. And I bought the solid, too in ivory!
I sized up to a L. I love the extra long sleeves on it.

11. Cropped Tweed Jacket
I always bring this with me to Paris. I own it in three colors now! Great for pairing with jeans, trousers or even over dresses and skirts.
Or consider a Lady Jacket style.
Structured lady jackets and cardigans are always in my suitcase for Paris. So timeless and put together. Mango and J.Crew makes my favorite ones.
12. Sezane Milo Bag
A great shoulder bag that is timeless, looks and feels designer and can easily be dressed up or dressed down for days or nights in Paris.
It comes in a variety of colors.
For additional bags at an affordable price point, I like Mango’s selection.
13. J.Crew slip skirt
This J.Crew slip skirt takes up next to no room in a suitcase and is so versatile.
14. Sweater Dress
Dress it up or dress it down. I own this one in size L.
15. Belt
A good belt is a great way to add variety to your vacation looks.
16. Loeffler Randall Isla Booties
These booties always come with me on Paris trips because they are so comfortable and go as well with jeans as they do skirts and dresses.
17. Celine Sunglasses
I’ve owned these in two colors for years now. You definitely want a pair of sunglasses in your suitcase.
1. High Waisted Wide Leg Jean
An on-trend style that you can wear with a myriad of shoes from your suitcase. I find these run TTS but would size up if you want a bit more give.

2. Button Down
I have gotten more wear out of my Sezane button down (size US 8 / FR 40) than I could have ever imagined.
It is so timeless in style and such high quality that it wears well time after time. I love it tucked under jeans or into midi skirts or work pants.
Super French in style is also this oversized button down that goes so well with jeans and ponte pants but also layers under sweaters and blazers well. I sized down to a S in it.
3. Sweater Jacket
Wear it open, wear it closed. I like to travel in a sweater like this often.
4. Ankle Crop Jeans
I’m never without a versatile pair of ankle cropped jeans for Fall trips to Paris.
5. Plaid Blazer
A must for any trip to Paris in my opinion – particularly in Fall and Winter.
You can shop my personal collection of in-stock blazers and outerwear in The Shop.
6. Veja Sneakers
This pair I newly own and love, too and just bought in another color.
7. Crossbody Bag
This French brand makes beautiful bags and this one is perfect for crossbody during the day and as a shoulder bag or clutch at night.
8. J.Crew trousers
These are *so* good. I wear them on my long haul flight to Paris so if my room isn’t ready I can still explore stylishly yet they are comfortable enough for travel. Dres them up, dress them down and throw them in the wash when you get home and they’ll come out looking brand new.
Trust me that you will love these pants. I wear an 8.
