Black + White for Spring

I’ve talked about closet MVPs here before but I define them as those essentials that you’ll reach for over and over again. They are well made. You won’t tire of them. They aren’t trendy. They can be worn on multiple occasions, styled in different ways.

Two new essentials in my closet are this perfectly drape-y (and not see through) white silk tee and a black leather tote. I have this Cuyana tote in two other colors because it is that great. For my upcoming trip to France, I wanted to have a black one that’ll go with most of my wardrobe and fit loads of stuff as a carry-on.

The silk tee is god-send. Most white silk is far too sheer (I hate when you can see bra lines through silk tees) but this tee is the perfect weight and material. I also love the short sleeves and the fact that it is slightly longer in the back than the front. It’s such a a great, flattering everyday essential. I’ve worn it nearly a dozen times since getting it last month and have it packed up for France as well. While many people always balk at traveling with silk, I have no problem with it because I’m never without Downy Wrinkle Releaser. I stock up on the travel size bottles – ha! (I’ve been using it since freshman year of college. I pretty much only iron things when it is a dire situation – I kid you not.)

Paired these two new essentials with white jeans (I love a mostly monochromatic look) and my favorite espadrilles that I’ve been wearing non-stop. They aren’t too high which makes them really comfortable. (The blush are so pretty, too.)

How was your weekend? Mine was BUS-Y. I had a lot of deadlines to prepare for and errands to run in preparation for this week’s departure so sadly no fun stories to share with the exception that I took a field trip to a Brooklyn distillery as my friend Patrick started as a volunteer tour guide there on weekends – it was such fun! I wore this Banana Republic top I just picked up (it’s like last year’s Tibi top that was all the rage but about 1/4 of the price!)

Hope you had a great one!

  1. Please explain the ripped knees on the white pants. I do not understand this fashion trend at all!

    1. Hi Mary! To each their own no doubt but I’m a denim girl through and through and love to mix up jeans with some distressed pairs 🙂
